Approve mobile devices for management

This feature is available in any G Suite edition.

The Approve operation applies only to personal devices. Company-owned devices are automatically approved.

As an administrator, you can choose to approve devices to activate them for mobile management. If you change your mind about approval, you can block the device. Normally, devices are automatically ready  after users set them up. If you choose to approve them, the devices don’t activate until you specify approval.

For you (and any other administrators) to approve and block devices, you need to choose advanced management and set up an approval requirement for personal device activation when you're setting up mobile devices for management.

  5. Click Approve.

For iOS devices: If you have set up your network to allow Wi-Fi access, that access is available after enrollment, while approval is pending. After you approve devices, users will also have access to G Suite apps.

For Google Sync devices (Apple® iPhone®, iPad®, or Microsoft® Windows Phone®): When device approval is pending, users get an error if they try to sync the device to G Suite. They also receive an email notification about the pending activation state. If you have specified an email address to receive notifications for new device activations, you'll receive an email shortly after the device registers, with details of the device to be activated.

In some cases, you might receive duplicate email notifications of a pending device activation. However, you only need to approve the device once.
