Enable classic Hangouts video calls

Admins can choose to enable or disable classic Hangouts video calling for the a domain or for specific organizational units.

Note: This setting does not apply to the new Hangouts Meet video meeting settings.

  1. Verify that your organization uses G Suite, Basic, Government, or Education edition.
  2. Sign in to your Admin console with your full G Suite email address and password.
  3. Verify that the Talk/Hangouts service is enabled.
  4. On the dashboard, click Apps, then click G Suite > Talk/Hangouts > Chat settings.
  5. Scroll to the Additional Services section and select Allow users to place voice and video calls from classic Hangouts and chat.

    1. Go back to Settings for Talk/Hangouts.
    2. Click Global settings.
    3. Under Hangouts video calls, select All classic Hangouts video calls begin with external guests allowed to request access.
  7. Click Save when you’re done.
