If you want to reduce licenses for a Google service, how you reduce them depends on how you signed up for your service and your plan type (G Suite only).
I have G Suite on the Annual Plan
If you make payments for your G Suite subscription on the Annual Plan, you commit to paying for a full year of service for the number of user licenses you selected when you set up your annual contract. You can remove licenses you don't need and make your monthly payments go down only when it's time to renew your contract.
- From the Admin console dashboard, go to Billing.
- To the left of your G Suite subscription, click the Down arrow .
- Next to Renewal options, click Change.
- Select Reduce my contract.
- Click Save.
- Before your contract is scheduled to renew, delete all user accounts you don't want to pay for anymore.
On the day your contract is set to renew, we'll renew your annual commitment for only the number of user accounts you have that day. If there are any licenses you're not currently using, we'll remove those licenses from your commitment and your monthly payments will go down.
I have G Suite on the Flexible Plan
If you’re on the Flexible Plan, you don't directly reduce user licenses. Instead, you can delete users to reduce your monthly payment whenever you want. The number of licenses decreases by one for each user you delete.
I have a different Google service
If you have a different Google service such as Cloud Identity, you don't directly reduce user licenses. Instead, simply delete the users who no longer need a license, and the number of licenses decreases by one for each user you delete. For paid services, deleting users reduces your monthly payment.
I bought my Google service from a reseller
If you purchased G Suite on the Annual Plan from a reseller, you need to contact your reseller if you want to reduce licenses. For G Suite on the Flexible Plan and all other Google services, you can delete users yourself even if you bought the service from a reseller.
