cPanel: Set up G Suite MX records


To update your MX records with this Domain Name System (DNS) provider, first understand MX records and learn how to configure them for G Suite in general.


cPanel is a tool that some domain hosts use to manage DNS settings. For help accessing cPanel, contact your domain host's support team.

Open MX Entry

  1. Log in to cPanel for the domain you want to use with G Suite.
  2. In cPanel, scroll down to Email, and click MX Entry.

Delete MX records

  1. Under the MX Records section, click Remove next to any existing MX records.
  2. Click Delete to confirm.
  3. Repeat Steps 1-2 for all remaining MX records.

Add MX records

To direct your email to your G Suite account, you have to add new MX records to your domain. These are the records that you'll need to add:

MX server address Priority
Important: Some registrars require you to add a period after the .COM in the MX server address.
In the G Suite Setup Wizard, check the I have created MX records with these values box and click below for the next step.

  1. In the Add New Record section, enter 1 in the Priority field.
  2. Enter ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. in the Destination field.
  3. Click Add New Record.
  4. Repeat Steps 1-3, entering the remaining values (MX Server address) from the table above, and setting the Priority values respectively.

    If you make a mistake after adding a record, you can correct it by clicking Edit.

  5. Skip this step if you already verified your domain by another method (such as TXT record, HTML file, or meta tag).

    If you need to verify your domain:

    1. In the Admin console, scroll to the Get your verification code section and click the Copy button.

      The MX records table is shown and a red circle highlights the Copy button next to the MX verification record.
    2. Paste the value in the Value/Answer/Destination/Target column.
    3. Make sure the record's priority is set to Low or to 15 or greater.
    Note: If your registrar rejects the verification code, try deleting the period at the end of .com.
Be aware it may take as long as 72 hours before DNS changes are propagated, depending on the time to live (TTL) that was configured for your records. Until records have been updated worldwide, you will still receive traffic to your old server.
