Switch billing plans

Applies to G Suite and Cloud Identity Premium.

Applies only if you purchased your service directly from Google. If you purchased your service from a reseller, contact your reseller for help. Not sure? See: Are you a direct or resold customer?

In some cases, you can switch your Google service subscription between the Flexible Plan and Annual Plan. If you want to switch billing plans, be sure to check the limitations first.

Limitations on switching billing plans

From Flexible to Annual Plan

Cloud Identity Premium and G Suite Enterprise customers can switch from the Flexible to the Annual Plan at any time. For other G Suite customers, you can’t switch from the Flexible Plan to the Annual Plan if you:

  • Choose certain countries when you purchase G Suite Basic or Business.
  • Purchase G Suite Business online in any country.
  • Purchase business email powered by G Suite through your personal Gmail account.

From Annual to Flexible Plan

During your free trial, you can switch from the Annual Plan to the Flexible Plan at any time. After your free trial has expired, you can’t switch to the Flexible Plan until it’s time to renew your subscription. If you cancel your G Suite or Cloud Identity Premium Annual Plan subscription before its renewal date, you’ll be required to pay a closeout charge.

How to switch billing plans

From Flexible to Annual Plan
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console dashboard, go to Billing.
  3. To the left of the relevant subscription, click the Down arrow Down Arrow .
  4. Next to Payment plan, click Change.
  5. Enter the number of user licenses you need and click Continue.
  6. Review the changes, check the agreement box, and click Continue.
  7. Specify payment information and click Continue
  8. Click Continue and review.
From Annual to Flexible Plan (before free trial expires)
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console dashboard, go to Billing.
  3. To the left of the relevant subscription, click the Down arrow Down Arrow .
  4. Next to Payment plan, click Change.
  5. Select Flexible Plan.
  6. Review and save your change.
From Annual to Flexible Plan (after trial expires)
  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console dashboard, go to Billing.
  3. To the left of the relevant subscription, click the Down arrow Down Arrow .
  4. Next to Renewal options, click Change.
  5. Select Switch to Flexible Plan.
  6. Click Save.

When your annual subscription is next up for renewal, you'll be switched to the Flexible Plan.
