In 2023, the G Suite Enterprise for Education Full Domain Licensing (GSEfE FDL) three-year promotional discounts will expire for many customers. In preparation for the 2023 renewal, now is the time to evaluate your transition to a Google Workspace for Education edition.
What do I need to do?
If you have a G Suite Enterprise for Education subscription, you need to evaluate your options and plan your transition. Planning for your transition might require coordination across your institution. Work with your reseller and review your transition options well in advance of your renewal date. You should consider a transition to Google Workspace for Education edition in 2023 if you have a G Suite Enterprise for Education promotional discount that’s expiring. If not, you need to transition by the end of 2024. Follow the steps below on this page for more information.
If you have Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals, Google Workspace for Education Standard, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, or Google Workspace for Education Plus, no action is required.
Step 1: Identify your current subscription & licensing model
There were 3 subscription licensing models for G Suite Enterprise for Education.
- G Suite Enterprise for Education Full-Domain Licensing (GSEfE FDL) with promotional discount and 3-year price lock—You placed a GSEfE FDL order with your reseller before October 31, 2020 and received a promotional discount and a 3-year price lock. You purchased licenses for all full-time staff and received 10 student licenses at no cost for each paid staff license.
- G Suite Enterprise for Education Full-Domain Licensing (GSEfE FDL) at retail price—You purchased licenses for all full-time staff and received 10 student licenses at no cost for each paid staff license.
- G Suite Enterprise for Education Partial-Domain licensing (GSEfE PDL) at retail price—You purchased a minimum of 50 staff licenses or licenses for 15% of your total staff, whichever was greater. You did not qualify for discounts or student licenses at no cost.
Step 2: Check your subscription
You can view your current subscription in the Admin console. Or, talk to your reseller.

Under Subscriptions, you’ll find a list of your current subscriptions.
Due to the G Suite to Google Workspace rebrand, if you had G Suite Enterprise for Education, you see Google Workspace for Education Plus - Legacy in the Admin console.

Transition to an offering that meets your product needs, budget, and timeline. Education Standard and Education Plus are licensed for all full-time enrolled students. Additional licenses can be purchased for part-time students, alumni, or others. Prices below are shown in U.S. dollars. Speak to your reseller about regional pricing.
