In January 2022, Google will update the Financial products and services policy to clarify the requirements for the advertisement of debt services products targeting the United Kingdom.

Beginning January 17th 2022, advertisers offering debt services targeting the United Kingdom will need to comply with an updated policy in order to be certified, which removes the requirement for debt services providers to be authorized to hold client money. The advertiser and provider of these debt services will still need to be either;

(1) a licensed insolvency practitioner regulated by a Recognized Professional Body or

(2) authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority to carry on debt adjusting and debt counseling.

As a reminder, we expect all advertisers to comply with the local laws for any area that their ads target. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these financial products. For more details, see About restricted financial products certification.

Violations of this policy will not lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued, at least 7 days, prior to any suspension of your account.
