  1. Understand Zagat ratings

    Ratings and reviews on Zagat.com come from people who share their experiences about the places they go. Diners can submit separate ratings for food, decor, and service at zagat.com. Food, decor, and service ratings Zagat ratings range from 1 to 5, where 5 is the most favorable rating.

    4.6 - 5.0  Extraordinary to perfection

    4.1 - 4.5  Very good to excellent

    3.1 - 4.0  Good to very good

    2.1 - 3.0  Fair to good

    1.0 - 2.0  Poor to fair

    Cost estimates

    Zagat includes price estimates that are based on the average cost of menu items:

    $ - Inexpensive

    $$ - Moderate

    $$$ - Expensive

    $$$$ - Very Expensive

    Zagat score changes

    New ratings and reviews are periodically added to Zagat.com.

  2. Become a Zagat-rated restaurant

    We use a combination of local editors and factors like user reviews to help us identify Zagat-worthy restaurants. 

    1. To be considered for a Zagat review, go to Google My Business and register. Since Zagat is part of the Google family, this is the best way to make sure we have current information about your business.
    2. Local editors review listings in their market to identify restaurants worth adding to Zagat. They consider a variety of factors, such as Google user ratings and reviews, to find high quality restaurants with compelling character or unique aspects.
    3. The Zagat editorial team makes the final selection of restaurants that will be covered on Zagat.com.

    Due to the large volume of inquiries we receive daily, we cannot confirm whether an editor has reviewed your business information.

  3. Update your business information on Zagat

    You can update your business information by claiming your listing in Google My Business.

    Go to Google My Business and verify your business.You can then update the following business information directly:

    • Address
    • Cuisine
    • Hours
    • Name
    • Phone number
    • Website

    You can also update your menu, photos, or request a factual change to an editorial review.

    Request changes to an editorial review

    If a review is no longer accurate due to a new chef, interior decor, or menu change, you can request a factual correction to a review. Updates may take 2 days or more to be reflected on Zagat.com.

    Add or update a menu

    To add or update menu information, please email our partner, SinglePlatform, at menu_updates@singleplatform.com and include:

    • Restaurant name
    • Link to your Zagat listing
    • The updated menu as a link or an attachment (.doc or .pdf)

    The SinglePlatform team updates menus within 2 business days of the request, free of charge.

    Include photos

    To include photos for your Zagat-rated business, email the photos as attachments or as links to photos@zagat.com. Include the following information in your email:

    • Business name
    • Business address
    • Business phone number
    • Business website address
    • Your first and last name
    • Photo credit, as needed

    Important: By submitting photos to Zagat, you're agreeing to allow Google to use these photos in accordance with Google's terms of service. To manage these photos, or others, you can visit Google My Business and claim your restaurant's page.

  5. Use the Zagat logo to promote your business's rating

    If you'd like to use the Zagat logo, ratings, or reviews on a menu, storefront sign, website, in promotional materials, or anywhere else for commercial purposes, email us to receive written permission at feedback@zagat.com.
