You can use the Voice Remote to control YouTube TV on your mobile device.

Use the Voice Remote in YouTube TV

You can use the Voice Remote to record, search, or otherwise control your YouTube TV experience.
  1. Select the microphone icon  anywhere you see it in the YouTube TV app. 
  2. Enable microphone access if you haven’t already.
  3. Speak any of the commands below into your device's microphone.
  4. Your command will be transcribed. 

Available commands

Basic commands

Video playback

You can say things like: 
  • "Fast forward"
  • "Pause"
  • "Resume"
  • "Rewind <X> seconds"
  • "Fast forward <X> seconds"
  • "Seek to <time (e.g., 3:42)>"
  • "Next <video>"
  • "Previous <video>"
  • "Cast this"
  • "Turn up the volume by <X> percent (e.g., 20%)"
  • "Turn down the volume by <X> percent (e.g., 20%)"

Channel surfing

You can say things like: 

  • "Jump back to my last channel"
  • "Flip through my favorite channels"

 Control viewing preferences

Play a specific network

You can say things like:
  • "Play <network>"
  • "Tune into <network>"
  • "Watch <network>"

Play a show, movie, or sports event

You can say things like:

TV Shows

  • "Play <TV show>"
  • "Play the latest episode of <TV show>"
  • "Play <TV show> season <X>"

Other ways to use your voice in YouTube TV

Use your voice to search for programs

You can also use the microphone  in Search  to search for programs in YouTube TV using your voice.
  1. Tap Search  in the top right of the YouTube TV app. 
  2. Select the microphone icon .  
  3. Enable microphone access if you haven’t already.
  4. Say a search command to search for a show, movie, team, league, event, etc. 

 

Notes:
  • YouTube TV does not record voice commands spoken into the YouTube TV app.
  • YouTube TV does not include personalized voice recognition. If you're logged in to the YouTube TV app on your device, any user speaking into the device will be able to use voice commands.
  • Voice commands are currently only available in English.
