How do I edit metadata and album art of my uploaded music?

In Google Play Music, it was very easy to update the metadata and album art of all uploads. After transfering, all of my uploads are now in YouTube Music but I have no way of editing the metadata or uploading new album art. How do I edit metadata and album art through YouTube Music?

Hello,

As you may have figured out already, there is currently no way to edit metadata directly in YouTube Music.

In my opinion this is a huge oversight and makes uploads feel like second-class citizen on the platform. I am pushing for this and I hope this is something we will see in the not so distant future.

For now, you need to either edit the metadata in an online tool, iTunes/another music player or on your local machine.

Sorry that this wasn't a satisfactory answer and I totally get how you feel coming from Google Play Music where this feature was available.

To make sure the team knows that this is a feature that you really want, please make sure you submit feedback regarding this. You can do this using both the app and web player by tapping your profile icon and then "feedback". Thanks!

Yours sincerely,

I just delete the file and use MP3 Tag free software and reupload. Yeah it sucks but I only have a few files that have an issue, otherwise mainstream music already has this. Still sucks that we cannot edit.

This must be temporary.  I cannot possibly imagine there would not be any way to match album art or choose your own album art and Artist/Song names.  And to prevent paying users from even changing their file names is inexplicable.     This entire switch is resulting in horrible press for GOOGLE and  the entire entertainment community (of which I am a member) is in utter disbelief at how poorly YOUTUBE MUSIC functions when compared to APPLE, AMAZON, SPOTIFY, etc.    We are hopeful that google is going to be proactive and handle these shortcomings as they have a long track record of being a resourceful and progressive company.   If YOUTUBE MUSIC is not enhanced and improved for long time Google Play Music users, it will be an extremely disappointing precedent.

c'mon, why force a move when this is clearly inferior product, and now charge money. Can't easily edit, can't easily add to playlists, on desk top the playlists can't be alphabetized. Wow.

Had just started to to get into Google Play Music.  So disappointed that Google has made this watered-down switch to Youtube music.  Guess it's time to start looking for something better again...Curses Googled again!!!

This is the dumbest move for a music platform, editing metadata is an essential feature that's been around since Windows Media Player on XP. We would all love to not have to do this, but there is no magic button for custom albums. This feature needs to be brought back ASAP!!

Fingers crossed? Well pull out your thumb and actually improve what was a pretty good app. Can't say I'm too impressed with what I see so far.

Please add editing metadata.  It is too frustrating not being able to organize your music.

Agree. This really sucks.

All I want are the basic features available on iTunes.... in 2004.

C'mon Google!

I need the ability to update meta data (aka track info) for the songs I upload to YT Music. Without this, there is just no way to organize the my songs the way I would like it. This feature is available in Google Play. Please make this feature available in YT Music ASAP!!!!! Note: To make things worse, my meta data is not accurately transferred from Google Play to YT Music. This is very frustrating for the least to say. Please listen to your customers, Google!
