In case you’re experiencing issues when transferring data from Google Play Music to YouTube Music, here are some troubleshooting tips:
- My data transfer is taking too long! How can I check my transfer progress?
The data transfer from Google Play Music to YouTube Music can take a few minutes or up to a few days to complete, depending on how much content you have to move over.Checking your transfer progress is easy –
- Click the grey information panel at the top of your YouTube Music page which reads “Transferring your Google Play Music Library”
- Here you’ll be able to see:
- items that have completed transfer (indicated by the tick mark)
- items that are pending transfer (indicated by the loading sign)
- My data transfer failed! What do I do?
You can transfer your data from Google Play Music to YouTube Music more than once. In case your transfer fails the first time, go ahead and try again –
- Visit https://music.youtube.com/transfer and click Transfer (OR)
- Open the YouTube Music app > tap on your profile picture > Settings > Transfer > Transfer from Google Play Music.
Rest assured that your data won’t get lost along the way!
- I added new songs/artists/albums/playlists to my Google Play Music library after completing my transfer to YouTube Music. Can I transfer again?
There is no limit to how many times you can transfer data across the two services which means you can transfer as often as you like! If you do multiple transfers, only the music added since your last transfer will be moved over to YouTube Music during subsequent transfers. Your previously transferred music will remain in your YouTube Music library and will not be impacted in any way. You’ll receive an email confirmation after each transfer is complete.
- I transferred my data and noticed the total number of songs in YouTube Music doesn’t match what I had in Google Play Music. Why is this?
You may see discrepancies in numbers if you’ve used YouTube Music in the past and some songs were already part of your library, or if some songs were duplicated during the transfer process. You can remove the duplicate items manually by clicking the three dot icon next to it and selecting ‘Remove from library’. Additionally, certain songs or albums may not transfer due to rights or licensing issues, more on this at our Help Center.
- I’m unable to transfer my billing information from Google Play Music to YouTube Music. Help!
