Hey everyone!
 
We’re happy to share that podcasts on YouTube are now available in YouTube Music! We’re rolling this out to all our listeners in the United States gradually, so hold tight if you don’t see it yet! This update allows those watching podcasts on the main app to continue listening to them on YouTube Music. More about the new podcasts listening experience on YouTube Music below!

All listeners can enjoy podcasts on-demand, offline, in the background, while casting and seamlessly switch between audio-video versions on YouTube Music. This podcast listening experience is different from our music listening experience where you need a Premium or Music Premium subscription to enjoy some of these features.*

This new podcast listening experience complements the podcast video experience on YouTube, and we’re so excited for you to try it! For those of you outside the United States, rest assured that we plan to bring podcasts in YouTube Music to other regions in the future! The implementation is quite poop.
Case and point, Conan O Brien Needs a Friend has long long episodes in podcast apps, yet YouTube Music showcases the 5 minute snippets instead. What's the point of rolling it out if it hasn't passed a thorough Q&A check?

Wow - The navigation in YouTube music is bad as it is. Podcasts navigation is next level bad. 

Guess I'll have to look for an alternative.

Can't listen to podcasts unless the Youtube Music app is active (unless you have premium) which is not an issue with Google Podcasts. Also, I echo the other issues, no way to mark podcast complete so everything stays in the list.

I can deal with the podcast complete issue, although its annoying.  But if I can't listen to free podcasts without subscribing to Youtube premium I will just not use Youtube music. You are going to drive people away by doing this.

Google play podcast player is going to be replaced by Youtube music podcast player.

I can skip 30 seconds forward in google podcasts with my windows media keys.  When I try that in youtube music it just goes to the next podcast.

This change is horrendous. I tried to give YouTube Music a chance today, and it did not go well. It accepted 0 of my 16 podcast subscriptions through the export function, doesn't recognize podcast titles, doesn't show episodes in any particular order (leastwise reverse-chronological), shows episodes from different podcasts in the same list as the one you actually searched for, and just pulls episodes from YouTube to watch as if a video and an audio podcast were in any way synonymous.

What YouTube Music would need to do in order to be actually useful for podcast listening is to fix all of the issues above, none of which it appears equipped to do. But then, the expectation is built right into the name, isn't it?

Yeah this implementation needs work. I really wish Google had just kept podcasts as a separate app, or at very least had feature parity before rolling this out. Some things:

I want a separate podcast queue, and "Episodes for Later" doesn't automatically remove episodes I've finished listening to. So now I'm spending time managing my listening list. This is such an obvious oversight that it's depressing.

There's no apparent method for marking podcasts as listened to already. Also, Google didn't bother porting this over from Google Podcasts, so now I have no idea where I'm at on podcasts where I'm running through hundreds-long episode backlogs.

Google Podcasts had the ability to view your subscriptions in the order of frequently listened to. This was incredibly useful. There are some podcasts that I listen to occasionally, but not regularly, and now I have to shuffle through a massive list of subscriptions to find the shows I want to stay up to date on.

Honestly, it feels like the people working on this don't listen to podcasts at all. Is there any sort of internal testing?

I too am struggling with this change from Google podcasts. I have YouTube premium. but I love to listen to podcasts.  i cue them up then listen when I'm driving.. this no longer seems to be a safe viable option.  YouTube Music does not really allow you to easily queue of your podcasts

Terrible decision, I'm about to cancel my subscription. It insists on playing videos and the incorrect podcast, What is wrong with Google lately?

Google Home speakers will only play the first podcast in a:
1) Playlist of Podcasts in YT Music
2) Play Queue of Podcasts in YT Music
3) Downloaded Podcasts in YT Music 

Same behaviour for YouTube Music on Android devices, in that only the first podcast is played in a:
1) Playlist of Podcasts in YT Music
2) Play Queue of Podcasts in YT Music
3) Downloaded Podcasts in YT Music

Previous and Next podcast oral commands are ignored in YT Music for Podcasts
No Previous or Next buttons in Android app for a YT Music Podcast list.

With Google Podcast I would download a queue of podcasts to play while hiking, walking, driving, ... 

The above deficiencies make this impossible for Podcasts through YT Music.

Will these deficiencies be addressed and if yes, when?
