Get started with YouTube Music

With the YouTube Music app, you can listen to the latest hits, stay connected to artists you love, and discover new music and podcasts to enjoy on all your devices.

Podcasts are now available to YouTube Music users in select countries/regions globally. Start listening in the YouTube Music app.

There are two versions of YouTube Music:

• Our ads-supported YouTube Music, which includes access to background play and downloads for most podcasts.
• YouTube Music Premium, which gives you exclusive access to music benefits, such as:
  • Background play for music
  • Music without ads
  • Audio-only music

YouTube Music Premium and YouTube Premium members may still see branding or promotions embedded in podcasts by the creator. If added or turned on by the creator, you may also find promotional links, shelves, and other features in and around content.

How to customize your YouTube Music listening experience

Use YouTube Music

Navigate the app

When you open YouTube Music, you'll see three tabs. Select any of these tabs or use search to find the songs, artists, albums, and podcasts you love.

• Home : Check out customized stations and recommendations based on your current mood, activity, or listening history. When you sign in to YouTube Music with your Google Account, you'll also see recommendations based on music and podcasts you've listened to on YouTube.
• Samples : Explore new music and view previews of music videos within the Samples tab.
• Explore : Use the explore tab to browse the newest releases on YouTube Music or pick a curated playlist based on your mood.
• Library : View songs, playlists, albums, and podcasts you've saved to your library. As a YouTube Music Premium member, you can also scan recently played songs and playlists, and see any content you've downloaded.

Save music or podcasts to your library

You can save songs, playlists, or podcasts to your library, create customized playlists, and more. Learn about customizing your music experience in YouTube Music.

Manage your music recommendations

To get the best music and podcast experience on YouTube Music:

• Sign in to YouTube Music with your Google Account—you'll get recommendations based on music and podcasts you've listened to in YouTube Music and on YouTube. Learn to view, pause, or delete your watch history.
• To turn off your recommendations, visit Settings Privacy.

Stream via Wi-Fi on mobile

If you're using YouTube Music on your mobile device, you can turn on the "Stream via Wi-Fi only" setting.

To turn on "Stream via Wi-Fi only":

1. Select your profile picture.
2. Select Settings .
3. Turn on "Stream via Wi-Fi only."

YouTube Music Premium

With a YouTube Music Premium membership, you can enjoy other perks, like:

• Music without ads
• Background play
• Audio-only mode
• Downloads and offline listening (except on the YouTube Music for Chromebook App).
