Activate or remove YouTube Premium benefits on YouTube Kids

Activate YouTube Premium in YouTube Kids

To activate YouTube Premium member benefits in the YouTube Kids app, you must have a YouTube Premium membership on your Google Account. To associate the YouTube Kids app on your device with your membership:

1. Tap the lock icon in the bottom corner of any page in the app.
2. Complete the math problem or enter your custom passcode.
3. Select Settings .
4. Tap Activate YouTube Premium.
5. If the account with your YouTube Premium membership is already signed in to a Google app on this device, select it from the account picker. Otherwise tap Add YouTube Premium account and sign in.

Note: Signing in to your Google Account will make it available to any other Google apps on the same device.

6. Tap Send parental consent email.
7. Check your email for a message from YouTube Kids with a verification code.
8. Enter your verification code into the YouTube Kids app.

YouTube Premium member benefits will now be ready to use in the YouTube Kids app on this device.

Activating YouTube Premium with your own Google Account does not sign the account into the YouTube Kids app. Watch and search history, if turned on, will still be limited to the YouTube Kids app on that device, and will not be linked to your Google Account.

Remove YouTube Premium benefits or switch account

If you’d like to remove YouTube Premium benefits from the YouTube Kids app, or switch the account used to grant YouTube Premium member benefits:

1. Tap the lock icon in the bottom corner of any page in the app.
2. Complete the math problem or enter your custom passcode.
3. Select Settings .
4. Tap YouTube Premium account.
5. Tap Remove from app.

Note: These steps will remove the link between this account’s YouTube Premium membership and the YouTube Kids app on this device. But, this account may still be signed in to other Google apps on this device.

If you’d like, you can activate YouTube Premium member benefits again using any account with a YouTube Premium membership.
