Download videos to an SD card

To make sure that videos you’ve downloaded are stored on an SD card, install an SD card on your phone. If you don't turn on SD card use, your videos will save to your phone's internal memory.

Turn on SD card use

  1. Go to Menu  at the top of your screen.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Under “Video Storage,” tap SD Card.

  4. Select to use SD card memory.

If you remove the SD card and put it in another phone, the videos you saved to that SD card will not play.

Note: Make sure that there's enough space available on the SD card to download your video. Once you switch to SD card, you will not be able to play any videos that are saved in other storage locations.

Download to an SD card

  1. Open the YouTube Go app.

  2. Go to a video you’d like to download to your SD card.

  3. Tap the video once.

  4. Select the video quality of either Data Saver, Standard, or High Quality.

  5. Tap Download.

You can see your video’s download progress on the Home screen or in the Downloads tab. Downloaded videos will use either your phone’s memory or the SD card memory.
