Become a channel member on YouTube Gaming

Through recurring monthly payments, a channel membership allows you to purchase digital goods such as public badges and emoji, and may allow you access to other special perks. This feature is used widely on YouTube Gaming, as well as a small number of channels on the main YouTube app and site as part of a beta.

If a channel has memberships available, you'll see a "Join" button on their channel or watch page on gaming.youtube.com or the YouTube Gaming app.

Channel membership benefits on YouTube Gaming

While your paid membership is active on a channel on YouTube Gaming, you will receive the following for your monthly recurring payment:

  • Exclusive public-facing membership badge next to your user name when you send live chats on the channel you are a member of (if such chat is offered by the channel)
  • Exclusive access to the channel's public-facing custom emoji in live chat (if offered by the channel)

FAQs

Why can't I see the Join button?

There could be a number of reasons for this, including:
  • The feature is not launched on the channel.
  • The feature is not launched in your country.
  • This feature will only appear on eligible video watch pages of participating channels. For example, watch pages of videos claimed by certain music partners are not eligible.
Why do some channels have different prices?
Some channels are helping us test a new feature called “levels.” This allows them to choose up to 5 different prices for memberships, and offer different perks at different levels. This feature is currently being piloted by some channels.

Each level has its own price point. Your perks stack as you go up each level. That means if you join at the most expensive level, you’ll get access to perks at all the lower levels.

What do I get for each level and how do I join?

This varies from channel to channel. You can see the different perks when you click Join.

  1. Visit youtube.com or open the YouTube app.
  2. Go to the channel of, or a video uploaded by, the creator you'd like to support and see if they have enabled memberships on their channel.
  3. Click Join.
  4. You’ll see the different perks offered. Select the membership level you want to join at and click the price.
  5. Follow the prompts to enter your payment information.
  6. Click Buy.

You’ll see a welcome announcement once your transaction is complete. When you have an active paid membership, you will be automatically charged at the start of each monthly billing cycle.

I’m already a member, how do I see the different perks available?

Go to the channel page which you’ve already joined > tap See perks.

How do I change my level?

Right now, you have to cancel your membership and rejoin the channel at a different level.

How much of my channel membership payment goes to the creator?

Creators receive 70% of membership revenue and YouTube retains 30% after local sales tax is deducted. All transaction costs (including credit card fees) are currently covered by YouTube.
