How long does it take for YouTube Data API v3 quota limit to increase after submitting a request? 0 Recommended Answers 12 Replies 138 Upvotes

Our API call limit has recently been reduced from 1,000,000 to 40,000 calls and we are now hitting that limit daily. I have submitted the request form to increase the API limit, but would really like to know how long it takes for Google/Youtube to review a request for quota increase. I received an email saying my request was submitted, but I have no idea when I will receive a response. And what do I do if I don't receive a response.

Did you ever receive a reply from youTube? And if so, did you follow-up some other way to get a response?

I am having the same issue. Is there anyway we can chase this or get some sort of indication of a timeframe? thanks.

Also submitted this ridiculously huge form 1 week ago and no response. Tried calling Google Cloud Support and they simply told me the only support channel for Youtube API was to ask on StackOverflow. That's unbelievable for one of the biggest products of the biggest tech company in the world.

If you are not happy with the service ask for refund.
YouTube increases API quota only if it's useful for Youtube, not you.

I'm in the same position. Unfortunately where I'm living right now has really slow broadband, and I have a vlog series of 125 episodes (~200GB) to upload. I put all the episodes on an SD card and posted them to a friend with fast internet who uploaded them to a Google Bucket. I've written a command line tool that I will run on a cloud server to add all the videos to YouTube using the API. It's ready to go, apart from the API quota.

The original post was written four months ago now... Perhaps the original poster could give an update as to the current status? If my API quote increase request isn't going to happen I'll have to change my plans...

FYI I got a response after 6 days. I was rejected because I got the project number wrong, and not enough information. The pointed my to the same form so it looks like I might have another week to wait. I've filled in the form again with more precise information and I'll update here when I get a response.

Your quota extension request has been rejected based on the information you provided due to the following reason(s):
  • The information provided is insufficient for us to review your request (e.g., incomplete form, unclear answers, etc.)
  • The project number provided is invalid. To find the project number associated with your YouTube API Client, follow the steps provided here

So it looks like today (7 days after my corrected request) my YouTube API quota has been increased to the 500,000 queries per day that I asked for. No email confirmation of this, it's just been applied silently.

Wow ... I feel jealous. We had set up the API key and not used it for a while, so the quota got reduced to zero. We then submitted the application once we were ready to use it (after all our testing on another instance was complete), and it has been a whopping TWO MONTHS. They don't even respond to requests for the current status.

I also received an reduce operation and now I got an whats called "audit check" - YouTube want to verify who using their API and for what, so my api is disabled for now . and my app users ? they have non-functional app right now ( some of them are active for almost 2 years ).

So I filled their very long audit form with endless details requests.

About Quate increasement I don't even think right now

We have submitted the request and it's taking about a month. (still reviewing) I desperately wanna know how long I should wait more. :(

I've been waiting since August of 2019. They even reduced my quota to zero since then. No communication from the team whatsoever. They've officially blocked my project from launching for months, now.

Hi, it happened to me Yesterday, that they reduced my quota even if i was always way above the requests limit. I can prove this, but there is no way for me to throw an appeal or something. Does somebody have an advise?

@Dave 32897 could you please tell us more about your app/client, so we coul;d probably try a correct request as well ;)
