How to disable the automatic title translation from Youtube?
0
In Youtube, there's an automatic translation to titles and it's super annoying. As a multiple language speaker I want to see the Youtube titles in their original language because not only the creator choses his title specificly but there's also bugs that make the video appear in both languages. I HATE this feature and it makes me sick that I can't disable it, I just want to see the videos in their original language, is it that hard? I'm tired of seeing mixed titles like: "Today vamos nuevo car". It's just stupid, please Youtube create a button or an option to disable this useless (FOR ME) feature.

Im in the same position.
The only "solution" that ive found so far is to change your account language, and that will also translate everything to the selected language, itll only let you choose one and changes your devices language as well.

As i said, not a solution but its something.

Other thing i think could work is to disable google location or the gps thingy, log out from the app and use it like that, havent tried it tho.

Hello Google, we people of Earth can speak more than one language. Please allow us to be able to choose different languages for the UI and for the content.

Upvoted. Google & YouTube better fix this and fast, or I'll just turn to watching videos without logging in and using an adblocker.

There are a lot of threads with this. My understanding is YouTube believes this is a feature for the creators of the videos, and it should only happen if the video's creator has uploaded translated titles. Do you have reason to believe this happens without the creator doing it?

I am going to try to create an escalation report by collecting the numerous threads I've seen on this issue. However, because YouTube believes this is a feature, they may not respond.

Can you do the following:

  1. Take a screenshot of an automatically translated title so I can escalate it to the team.
  2. Send Feedback to YouTube expressing that you do not like this feature and would like to have the option to disable it. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4347644

Yup. Opinion sent. I really hope they will do something about it o_O As my 8yo niece is sometimes using my account she gets totally confused when she clicks title in Polish and gets video in English that she can't (yet) understand.

Also I hope they won't get like "good idea" to just print lang id on thumbnail or something and keep titles changed...

There's actually a super easy fix to this: in the top right corner click your profile pick and from the menu choose Settings. From there choose "View or change your account settings", in the "Privacy & Personalization" section choose "Manage your data & personalization", scroll down to "
General preferences for the web" section and in the "Language" settings add the language you speak. So if your German videos are translated to English, add German language. Click save, refresh YouTube and it should now work.

That doesn't work at all! There isn't any fix for this, I don't want that feature! I don't want to see German videos as I don't speak German (nor most of the languages in the world).

Are there any new info on that? This is really annoying. In my case there is more and more video titles shown in language different than original video. As such my family is getting confused as for example there are English videos that I watch but because titles are shown in Polish they just open them. It would be amazing if we can just keep language same as original...

Yeah, adding more languages does not seem to help for me. Even in a completely different browser with cache cleared. You'd think having multiple languages selected would do something, what does that feature do in the first place? This is the only thing I know of where it could be relevant but apparently it's not.
At least I can still partially see the original title in the label of my browser's tab, but I feel like that makes it worse. It's right there.

The translated titles are neat and all, the part where it's mandatory is not. If it's not a bug then it's a bad feature.
I did notice that Input Tools has a Multiple Languages option under Google Account settings. Not directly relevant to Youtube, but maybe this should be a Language option for Youtube if they don't want to add options to disable individual features.

This is a very annoying feature. The title of a video is generally understood as a quick way to know the content's language. Allowing titles to appear in multiple languages is misleading.

Translating tiles is useless and clickbait. I don't understand Russian for example. Yay let translated this Russian video title in English I click on the video still can't understand Russian spoken in the video. So what the use in translating the title. If I understand the language I don't need a translation. If I don't understand the language I can't understand the video and don't want to watch it.

I think I just figured out. Now we have to click on the video thinking we understand the language watch the ads, then close the video in disgust since we don't understand the language.

If a German creator creates a German video with default title in German, and then adds a English translation to it I should be able to see German title and not English one if German is in the list of languages I understand.

I have English as default language and additional Russian and German as languages I understand, but all the videos of all creators Russian or German are displayed in English, in this case the whole feature is kinda worthless, It should only use translations for videos with languages I don't have in my list like Japanese for instance.
