How do I contact YouTube support about an ongoing harassment issue? 0 Recommended Answers 6 Replies 8 Upvotes

I would like to contact YouTube via email and engage in a conversation about constant harassment I (and others) get on our YouTube channels.

Yes, I know there is a reporting function on our channel, but the first and only time I ever used that, they not only removed the account of the cyberbully, but they disabled my account as well. You can imagine the panic that set in when that happened after running a channel here without an issue for 9 years.

The bullying that is occurring is from a person or people who have some sort of vendetta out against a small community of creators covering our genre. I'm sure this happens with other niche categories, but quite frankly, I am sick of it and something needs to be done.

These people are impersonating our niche creators and in my case, personal family members. At the moment, I am simply muting them on my channel, but then they go to other channels and bully them until the accounts are blocked everywhere. It's just a constant battle keeping these idiots at bay. As soon as we mute one, they create another and start it all over again.

When we do try an report them, the amount of details we need to provide is counterproductive given that they simply go and create an email address and a fake name and start the process again. I keep 90% of the derogative statements off my channel using the blocked words list (which grows weekly) but given the ease, with which anyone can create an account, it seems a futile effort.

I also understand the overall size of youtube and that they simply don't have the resources available to manage every small channel discussion, but something needs to be done. Accounts that are allowed to comment and interact as an audience needs to have some value and authentication process so that they have something to lose if they harass people and get reported. Surely YouTube realises this but it seems to us that their derogatory interaction on our channels has the same analytical value as legitimate audience engagement.

I simply want to open dialogue with someone on YouTube and engage in meaningful discussion about the issue and see if there is an easier or better way to deal with this menace.

Ignore them and don't engage. They're trying to provoke a response, if you don't give them what they want, they'll get bored.

This is a typical response to someone without a damn clue. Of course, we already do that, but these asshats breed and it just continues.
There needs to be a new solution to make the participants value their account. One example, linking accounts to a mobile number but that excludes everyone without a mobile phone. Right now, as soon as you ban one of these idiots, 3 minutes later they have created a new email address and continue with their harassment.
We simply don't see this level of harassment on platforms like Facebook because people lose their accounts if they breach rules and Facebook police their platform 100 times better than ZooTube!

Please HELP ME TOO!!!  I have this guy who’s been stalking me on every social media account. He come to my home and tries to open my window. I don’t want him knowing anything about me, it surprised me when I noticed I had a subscriber...it’s him (I’m just a viewer I don’t post video). I can’t delete him. I tried clicking on my subscribers and it won’t show me anything, I think because he’s in private??? I know it’s him because I got the email notification... please help!! I want to try to contact YouTube. This is a safety concern shouldn’t they provide help and not just FAQ articles!!?

I have to agree, ignoring does not stop the problem. Same thing is happening in my community and it has gotten to the point where a threat of releasing a child info was made. I tried to report but since its not my child I have no way to well report!   I can not sit by and watch this person bully others. This is the third person she has gone after. How can we get help!

"This is a typical response to someone without a damn clue. Of course, we already do that, but these asshats breed and it just continues."

However that is what the trolls want a reaction so it is no a response form someone who doesn't have a clue. After all you are the one with no clue as to what Gadget may have put up with on YT. Another one is to belittle them and I don't mean insult them but give sarcastic response to their comments.

Another option you have available to you is to block them, this stops them from being able to comment on your channel. Though the comment may still appear to them it is not publicly viewable so they don't realise they are blocked. .

"There needs to be a new solution to make the participants value their account. One example, linking accounts to a mobile number but that excludes everyone without a mobile phone"

Because everyone have a mobile phone. Dear god how arrogant or clueless are you. A quick google search will show you that around 95% of the UK have a mobile phone and globally it is around 62%.

All new accounts require a phone verification with a code being sent. Do you know how easy it is to get a new number? I can get hundreds of sims for free and each of them comes with a new number, therefore I could create thousands of accounts with no trouble.

What you are asking for will not do anything to affect those who are determined to do what you are accusing people of ding but will punish the innocent.

"We simply don't see this level of harassment on platforms like Facebook because people lose their accounts if they breach rules and Facebook police their platform 100 times better than ZooTube!"

It must be a different than the one that makes the news. FB polices their platform in the same way YT does and that is down to people reporting.
