Hi everyone,
A few months ago, we redesigned the YouTube Homepage for desktop and tablets (previous announcement). Now, we're bringing the same spirit of this cleaner design to YouTube’s video watch page on mobile – we hope this update helps you connect with your favorite content and creators more easily.
Over the next few weeks, this update will become available to everyone using YouTube on mobile devices. Here's what you can expect with the new design:
- Post a new comment or see a comment preview directly below the video player, above your list of videos to watch next. From the preview, simply tap anywhere to view all, like, and reply to comments. We hope this makes it easier for you to connect with others and discuss the video you're watching – in our early experiments, the number of people leaving comments increased by 10% on average with this new design. - Videos in the watch next section have larger thumbnails and longer titles, so you can see more info about each video at a glance. You’ll also notice channel icons below each video to help you recognize your favorite creators while you scroll through the feed.
- New types of content will appear alongside videos to watch next, such as Community Posts from your favorite creators, which may be text updates, polls, images, GIFs, and more. You’ll also see YouTube Mixes, which are tailored playlists created by YouTube featuring videos from the channel you’re watching, or that you recently watched.
Here are some FAQs if you have more questions:
GENERAL FAQ
Q: Which comments show up in the preview section?
A: We consider a variety of signals. For example, how people are interacting/engaging with the comment and if the creator has given the comment a heart.
Q: How do I view all comments on the video?
A: You can tap anywhere in the comment preview to view all comments while you continue to watch the video. When viewing comment replies, tap the back button to return to all comments or tap the X to go back to your main watch feed.
CREATOR FAQ
Q: Will my pinned comments show in the preview section?
A: Since there is limited space in comment previews, pinning a comment doesn’t automatically guarantee that it will appear in the preview section. However, when someone taps to view all comments, your pinned comment will continue to show first.
Q: Do my current comment moderation settings still apply to the preview section?
A: Yes, all comment moderation settings still apply to the new comment preview section, including blocked words and hide users. Learn more about how to manage and moderate your comments.
Let us know what you think in the comments below or by sending feedback.
