You won't like this answer... but here it is:

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to completely prevent YouTube Shorts from ever showing up on your YouTube channel. However, there are a few methods you can use to significantly reduce their visibility:
A. Disable Shorts in Your Home Feed:
  • This removes Shorts from your browsing experience, but they might still appear in search results. Here's how to do it:
    • Open the YouTube app on your phone or tablet.
    • Tap on your profile picture in the top right corner.
    • Select "Settings" from the menu.
    • Go to "General" settings.
    • Under "Playback," toggle the switch next to "Playback in feeds" to OFF. (This will prevent autoplay of all videos, including Shorts.)
    • On the YouTube homepage, click the three dots in the upper right corner.
    • Select "Desktop site" to view the desktop version of YouTube.
    • Find the "Shorts" section on the homepage and click the "X" to close it. (This hides Shorts from the desktop homepage, but it might reappear after 30 days.)
B. Avoid Uploading Short-Form Content:
  • YouTube's algorithm might recommend Shorts content to your channel if you upload short-form videos. By focusing on longer-form content, you might discourage the platform from promoting Shorts on your channel.
C. Engage with Non-Shorts Content:
  • Watch and interact with regular YouTube videos you're interested in. This helps train the algorithm to recommend similar content to your channel, potentially reducing the appearance of Shorts.
D. Third-Party Extensions (Limited Use):
  • Some browser extensions claim to block Shorts on the desktop version of YouTube. However, these extensions might not be reliable or secure, and their effectiveness can change over time. Use them with caution and at your own risk.
E. Consider Feedback (Optional):
  • You can provide feedback to YouTube about your preference for not seeing Shorts content. While it might not lead to an immediate change, letting them know your perspective can be valuable for future updates. You can use the YouTube feedback tool (https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4347644?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid) to submit your comments.
