We’re making it easier for Creators to understand and resolve Copyright claims in YouTube Studio! Read below for each update and leave questions or feedback in the comment section below.
New on your Studio Dashboard: Copyright Strike Info
You’ll now see information about your channel’s copyright strikes directly on your YouTube Studio Dashboard. You’ll be able to see which videos were removed, who submitted the copyright takedown notice, and actions you can take to resolve the strike.
We're also providing more transparency about the content of the copyright takedown than ever before, now surfacing the specific description of the copyrighted work provided by the claimant in the takedown notice. In cases where that info is not readily available, there’s an option to contact our copyright team for a copy of the takedown notice.
New claim editing tool: Assisted Trim
We’ve added an explicit Trim option directly on the Video Copyright details page. You can trim out copyrighted content claimed by Content ID in your video which automatically releases the claim.
The endpoints of the edit are pre-set to where the claimed content appears in the video. We’re working on allowing adjustable endpoints so you can cut out the portion of your video that provides the best viewer experience. In the meantime, you can still do this via the YouTube Editor. You can learn more here.
New Video List filter: Copyright claims
There’s a new filter in the Videos page that lets you see which of your videos have been impacted by Copyright strikes or Content ID claims (yes, these are different!). Just click on Copyright claims in the filter. We’ve also added a new ‘Restrictions’ column on the Videos page that provides a more defined entry point for finding details about copyright issues on your video.
We have many more updates coming 2020 that will improve your copyright experience on YouTube. Stay tuned!

Hi, Im a italian YouTuber with 11.5k subs. I made stories with one of my friend with 350k followers on instagram as a collaboration. Currently I noticed that on youtube a person did a screenrecording of the stories (you see a cover of my video and the name of the channel with my instagram tag). And he currently has them loaded into his video with monetization without authorization. I'd like to get him a strike, can I do it?
