YouTube Desktop Web Release Notes - November 2019
Here’s a roundup of product improvements and bug fixes from the previous month! Reminder: these are just desktop updates from the team responsible for the youtube.com desktop experience (though they don’t work on everything on desktop – for example, other teams are responsible for YouTube Studio, monetization features, recommendations, etc.)
Improvements:
Adding the ability to queue videos on desktop: Last month we launched a new design and features on the YouTube homepage, including a new "Add to Queue" feature that lets you queue up several videos to watch next. This means you don't have to open multiple tabs! This comes bundled with more improvements – like the ability to add playlists to a queue, better integration of the mini player with queuing and more, giving you more control over the videos you want to watch in advance!

Additional improvements to the YouTube mini player:
- You can now play, pause, restart and seek your video directly from the mini player – bringing it’s functionality closer to the video player.
- You can maximize the video you’re watching directly from the mini player with a new “expand” option in the top left – you won’t have to stop or interrupt your video to maximize!
- [Fixed] When using the left hand guide to navigate the site, the mini player would sometimes go missing. Sorry about that – we’ve fixed this and you should now be able to browse more pages (including the settings & send feedback page) while continuing to watch your video on the mini player at the same time!
More easily manage your playlists:
- Editing playlists is much more simple – you can now sort videos in a playlist by Date Published, Date Added & Most Popular and edit your playlist privacy settings (public, private or unlisted) directly from the playlist page.
- Invite collaborators to manage your playlists in fewer steps – look for “collaborate” in the 3 dot menu on your playlist.
- New "share" button on the playlist page – it works the same way as sharing videos, but now you can share entire playlists! You can also dismiss playlists in the Up Next section by selecting "Not Interested" just as you do with videos.
- [Fixed] We noticed issues where the “remove watched” button wasn’t working on playlists as well as another one where only some accounts were able to “add videos to playlists” from the watch page. You features should not give you any trouble anymore!
Other things that kept us busy:
- [Accessibility] The team also made improvements to the screen reader which now more clearly states subscriber counts, channel names and better reads the Left Navigation menu on desktop.
- [Fixed] Some of you complained about the publish date not showing up and the embed code being broken. Thanks for your reports, these have been fixed!
