You’ve probably already heard of Super Chat: a highlighted message in the chat stream that stands out from the crowd, keeping the conversations and connections between creators and (super) fans meaningful and lively.
Super Chat is now available in 60 more countries in Africa, Europe and South America and we’re also rolling out another fun and creative way for creators to connect with fans during live streams and Premieres: Super Stickers.
Super Stickers allow fans to purchase animated stickers during live streams and Premieres to make their live chat messages jump out. Stickers will come in a variety of designs across different languages and categories, such as gaming, fashion and beauty, sports, music, food, and more. These stickers are fun, and we can’t wait for you to use them in the coming months!
We’ve heard questions from creators about how to use these features to engage with fans, so we asked our team to share some best practices that have helped creators succeed:
Why do viewers purchase Super Chat or Super Stickers?
According to a YouTube user experience research study, viewers buy and send Super Chats or Super Stickers to interact with creators & viewers and to react to the content. Study participants also liked that a majority of the revenue from their purchase goes to the creator’s channel. Super Chat works on content that is responsive. Consider recognizing the Super Chats that viewers send by fostering a conversation, answering questions, and saying “thank you”.
Super Chat success spans a variety of verticals & formats – not just Gaming and live streams
Super Chats can be purchased on Premieres too, and this is an easy way to introduce Super Chat to fans beyond live streams. Tech gurus & gadget reviews, news, 24/7 animal cams & groomers, tarot card readers & psychics, independent singers & piano players, anime characters in Japan (a.k.a. VTubers) are some of the wide variety of verticals that have succeeded at engaging with their fans using Super Chat.
Super Chat revenue has huge potential
Super Chat doesn’t necessarily depend on how many viewers you have, like ads do. This means Super Chat is a great feature for channels that are just starting out. Super Chat is now the primary revenue stream on YouTube for nearly 20,000 channels - an increase of over 65% over last year.
