Why Is My Youtube Sidebar Now Gone? 0 Recommended Answers 143 Replies 442 Upvotes

A few hours ago, the sidebar on the left side of my screen that used to show the library, subscriptions, and trending areas is now gone. This was an issue a few months ago, but according to Youtube its pretty much been resolved by now. People say you should clear your cache and cookies and that that might solve the problem, but not for me. It happens both when I'm logged out and logged in. There were no real suggestions other than that for how to solve this problem. Is this an issue with youtube or something weird happening on my side?

This just happened to me today as well. No idea why. It came back very briefly for a couple seconds but disappeared again shortly after.

I accidentally hit some random keyboard buttons with my hand over the left side of the keyboard. It went into the miniplayer mode. After this the left sidebar pannel which has subscriptions and playlists never stays open in the Default View when videos are playing, and the screen darkens when it is clicked on to open the sidebar. It Immediatelly dissapears which is a nuissance as it was working and i have no idea what keyboard buttons i accidentally mashed.

Chrome extentions and resetting browser data are nothing to do with this. I don't think any known keyboard shortcuts are bring it back. Resizing windows doesn't work either.

GOOGLE PLEASE MAKE A BUTTON TO LOCK THE LEFT SIDEBAR IN YOUTUBE.

[EDIT: The people that are having issues where the whole sidebar pane is blank and cannot actually see their subscriptions or playlists, IS totally not the issue here, fortunately]. It is simply that i have to click to open the sidebar every time to go to a subscribed person or to a playlist

Thanks

Same here.  igot used to the panel on the left side being visible for easy navigation, so I'd like to get it back. NOT just for a quick glimpse by clicking on the three lines on the top of the page, but permanently sitting on the left. Disappeared from my youtube sometime this weekend. WHY can't these options just be selectable for everyone? Like it, tick a box to keep the panel there.. don't like it, untick a box.
Upsetting to see major chages forced upon users!  And I feel like I'm wasting my breath here, as youtube never listens to its users.

You Tube should be sold to a company that gives a care about its users.  They could care less about who using you tube and its contents.  Needs to be in better hands. Time to break up this google mess.
And quit selling our ids and personal info..

If you want it gone, Charlie, then you are on the wrong thread. Mostly, we are trying to achieve individual control over our own account layouts. I recommend joining a group that's trying to get the same thing you are.

I recently started having the issue where my Sidebar was blank, even though I was signed in and using Chrome.

The fix for me was to sign out, then sign back in and forcibly reload the page (Shift-Reload)

The solution is to press ctrl - (numberpad one not the keyboard one) until a thing that pops up says 100%. it happens because the screen is slightly too big so it doesn't show the sidebar

Okay, update. Apparently the problem comes back when I go to a different site, and I have to sign out/sign in all over again to fix it again.

And notifications still aren't working.

Don't use notifications so I can't comment on it, but I can confirm that here too the only way to get the sidebar to show anything is to logout/login while on the Youtube page. Going to another site and coming back or even simply opening another tab with a Youtube page make the problem reappear...

Hi , after changing account's password i lost side menu lists too . Tried to find some help in community but nothing helpful so far  ( my main.problem is that i -still -  have 2 different accounts on 2 diff emails )..
I tried any possible way to sign in to find menu again (since playlist are STILL in the account ) , and by ACCIDENT i clicked sign out and signed in Google , where from THERE i choosed YouTube .
Menu bar was back in place !!!
Home , Trending , Library , Playlists etc are accessible again .
Forgive my English , is not my native language , but i think it's a web's bug . just found this solution now and i really can't say that i will not face the same problem again , but I Hope I helped and this works for you too.

update: 1.Once fixed , you need to make a new bookmark so it will not happened again .
              2. It's working as before in windows Mozilla , Mac's Chrome  , but  , not in Safari (not saving in pls ,
and still can't switch accounts , or even sign out).... go figure !!!

I signed out and back in. Yes the left bar was back, but it disappeared again as soon as I hit reload.
Moreover, YouTube doesn't display the number of each video anymore, it makes it hard to know where I am in my playlists. Why? Displaying this number was a problem for YouTube ??
Another annoying thing is when YouTube deletes a video from a playlist for some reason. It doesn't bother to even tell you which one was removed, so I'm left spending hours to try to remember what was removed, so that I can find another one.
Worst of all, I can't add any new video to my playlists, it just doesn't work anymore.

Why are YouTube and Chrome destroying good features instead of making them better ????

Since we are many to have hit this problem I decided to let the world know about my finding. Some days ago I lost my YouTube sidebar. It always worked before, and suddenly, boom, gone! Surfing for a solution on the WEB was unsuccessful. Then I started trying every little modifications on the WEB address bar. I found this:  https://www.youtube.com/?
Adding the ? suddenly brought back my sidebar. Go figure ?  If anyone as an explanation for this I am more than curious to find why ?

I think i was doing something while i was YouTube on and i cleaned my keyboard and all of a sudden I lose the " up next" videos the WHOLE RIGHT side where other videos related to the one you are watching don't pop up. Resetting does nothing at all. I hope our internet infrastructure can handle this virus. I have heard ISP and phone companies throttling even people with the more supreme unlimited deal. I need those videos back it makes the right side so blank and just shit.

I found a way to fix it! If you are on some sort of laptop you click on the three dots on the top right corner. Once you clicked the three dots you make you zoom percent a smaller number till it returns. This helped me although I do not like that it is not normal (100%) I hope this helped for you!

I found the solution for me, though mine may have been a different issue than others here (I had the sidebar, but it had none of the normal links --- Home, Subscriptions, playlists, etc.)
Fix for me was to go to the Youtube homepage (just www.youtube.com, not /feed/subscriptions or anything) and completely disable Adblock (this might also apply to any other ad-blocking extensions). You can do that by going up to the little Adblock icon (red with white hand) in the upper right-hand corner of the browser, clicking it, and selecting "Don't run on this page".

hello all it is very easy to sort this one out , just go the three dots on chrome and return the screen size into %100 , if you lose the sidebar that is means your screen went up to %110 or higher,
