Videos endlessly buffering only on Chrome 1 Recommended Answer 13 Replies 84 Upvotes

For about 5 months now I am having a problem with watching YouTube video's in Chrome. Either right at the start, after 3 seconds, or sometimes 10 minutes in, YouTube stops loading the video. When watching YT videos in Edge they load instantly and there is no buffering whatsoever, which means my internet connection is not the problem. Also videos on Facebook or Twitch for example load instantly.
The following gif shows that when YT is buffering the video the network activity drops to 0. After a while, when the video starts loading again, the network activity jumps up, as well as the connection speed.
Things I have tried:
- Reinstalling Chrome
- Clearing Cache and Cookies with Ccleaner
- Incognito mode with plugins disabled
- Disabling hardware acceleration
- Updating Flash player
- Using a different audio playback device to cross out driver issues
- Using a wifi connection instead of ethernet
- Running multiple virusscans (just in case, idk)
- Many more things I cannot recall right now
