Heads Up - We’re removing the ability to message directly on YouTube after September 18

Two years ago, we launched a feature to enable you to share videos via direct messages on YouTube. Since then, we've also focused on public conversations with updates to comments, posts, and stories. We’re constantly reevaluating our priorities and have decided to discontinue YouTube’s native direct messaging feature while we focus on improving public conversations.

After September 18, the ability to direct message on YouTube will no longer be available. You can still share YouTube videos, here’s how:

Go to the video watch page on any device
Click “Share”
Click on the “social network icon” from which you want to share a video

Very very annoying.. Why stop this very simple, yet highly useable chat service. Why downgrade YouTube? Just why? It is so annoying that these services are suddenly being constantly changed/closed.. Few months ago, Google+ too was closed.. Everytime one has to start over adding all contacts again - always loosing some..

Please get that YouTube chat function back..
