Learn how to use expanded analytics reports

In YouTube Analytics, you can click SEE MORE beneath most reports to expand them. Expanded reports give you more options for getting data. 

Use the esc key or select close  to leave an expanded report.

Match the numbers of the following features to the image above to learn how to use the expanded report.

1. Switch to see analytics for a specific video, group, or playlist

2. Filter data by geography, subscription status, and more

Filter analytics data by location

Use the Geography filter to get data for a specific country/region.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. On any card, click SEE MORE.
  4. At the top of the page, click Filter  and then Geography.

Choose the location/regions you want to get data for, then click APPLY.

Other filters available in YouTube Analytics

You can also use the instructions above to filter data by:
  • Live/on demand: Filter to see what portion of your viewers watched your video live, or as a replay on demand.
  • Subscription status: Filter data to find out what subscribers or non-subscribers watched.
  • Translation use: Filter to see what portion of your viewers watched your video in its original language, or used subtitles in other languages.
  • YouTube product: Get data from just one YouTube product. Choose between YouTube or YouTube Kids. 

Why is my filter crossed out?

A filter name can be crossed out if either:
  • YouTube Analytics doesn’t have that combination of report and filter you’re selecting
  • Your video or channel doesn’t have enough traffic during the selected time period
To use a filter that’s crossed out, try switching to a different dimension using the instructions below.  

Get data by age or gender

Use the Viewer age and Viewer gender dimensions to see how much of your traffic is coming from each demographic. 

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. On any card, click SEE MORE.
  4. At the top of the page, select Viewer age or Viewer gender. You may need to select More to reveal these options.

Edit the chart

Change the metric in the chart

Just above the chart area, there’s a box that shows which metric is selected for the chart. Click this box to choose a different metric for your chart.

Create a multi-line chart

You can check the boxes next to individual rows in the table. Each item checked will have a corresponding line in the chart. The “total” row is selected by default.

Get more detail for an individual row

Rows in your report written in blue text can be clicked to get more detailed data. 

For instance, if you’re viewing traffic sources, you can click results like “YouTube search” to learn which specific searches led to traffic on your channel.

Add or remove metrics from the table

To add a metric to your report, use the blue plus button .

To remove a metric from your report, select More  and then Hide metric.

 Other options

Switch between videos

In the top-left corner, analytics shows either your channel name or a video name. Click this name to pull up a video selector. You can search for a video by name or select one from the list. You can also select a group or your channel.

You can also hover over any video title and select Analytics

Compare performance

Select Compare to... to compare two items. You can compare two different videos, two different groups, and so on. Once you start comparing two items, you can also change the timeframes, report, and metrics.

Export data

You can view up to 50 rows of data in YouTube Studio. To get up to 500 rows of data, select Export   to download a report.
