Manage restrictions on your content

Restrictions may prevent viewers from watching your videos or seeing your Community posts. Restrictions could also impact video monetization when you’re in the YouTube Partner program. For example, a video might not be appropriate for viewers under 18 or there could be a pending copyright issue.

Check restrictions on your video

YouTube Studio app for Android

  1. Open the YouTube Studio app .
  2. From the bottom Menu, tap Content .
  3. In the Videos tab, find and select the video with a restriction. To filter your videos, tap Filter  and select your filter(s) under Restrictions:
    • Made for Kids: Made for kids (set by you), Set to made for kids (by YouTube), Not made for kids, or Not set.
  4. On the Details page, select Restrictions to get a summary of your video restriction and checks status.

Copyright

If you upload a video that contains copyright-protected content, your video could get a Content ID claim or copyright strike.

Terms and policies

If your video or post is taken down, limited, or made private by YouTube for a terms of use issue, you’ll see “Terms of use” in the “Restrictions” column. For example, you may see a terms of use issue if:

Age-restrictions

If your video isn’t appropriate for viewers under 18, it may be considered age-restricted content.

Made for kids

If your content is set as made for kids, we'll restrict certain features to comply with applicable laws.

Ad suitability

If you’re in the YouTube Partner Program and your content is identified as not suitable for most advertisers, your video may run limited or no ads.
