YouTube Shorts

  • Increasing Shorts length: Starting on 15 October 2024 creators can upload Shorts up to three minutes in length. Shorts longer than one minute that have an active Content ID claim will be blocked, regardless the of policy. Learn more about three-minute Shorts or manage your Shorts.
  • Now on all mobile devices, select a thumbnail when you create Shorts: You can now choose a frame from your Short to be used as the thumbnail and then add text and apply a filter when you create Shorts on Android and iPhone. Learn more about creating Shorts.
Other updates
  • Android bulk upload is no longer available: Starting mid-November 2024, we're phasing out the ability to share multiple videos at once from other apps to the YouTube app on Android. Creators can still upload one video at a time through their Android devices. This change does not affect bulk uploads on desktop. Learn more.
  • Submit tax info by 10 Dec: Make sure that you submit your tax form, and if eligible, claim a tax treaty benefit, by 10 Dec. All monetising creators, regardless of their location, are required to submit tax info. We recommend checking and updating your tax info every year. Even if nothing has changed, your tax forms expire every few years. Learn more.
  • Simpler creator channel: Starting in August 2024, some creators will see a simplified version of their channel with the removal of the 'Home tab' to improve navigation for small channels. Creators can turn on the 'Home tab' at any time in YouTube Studio to start curating their content.

We've merged 'Branding' and 'Basic info' into the 'Profile' tab. Also, the 'Layout' tab is being renamed to 'Home tab'. Learn more.

  • Changes to YPP suspension appeals: For some policy violations, creators will be notified if their channel is scheduled for suspension and invited to appeal before suspension. Affected creators have seven days to appeal without losing monetisation. If we reject your appeal, you'll be removed from YPP but can re-apply after 90 days. If you don't submit an appeal before your suspension, you can submit an appeal within 21 days of suspension or re-apply to YPP after 90 days. Learn more.
