Use Autoplay on Home on certain devices

You can preview and watch videos while you browse the Home tab in the YouTube app. As you scroll through your Home feed, videos will begin to play on mute with captions auto-enabled. This lets you easily preview different videos while you're exploring the app.

Note: If you watch a video for a certain amount of time while browsing, it may enter into your your watch history. Learn more about how to manage your watch history.

To turn Autoplay on Home on or off:

  1. Select your Account icon .
  2. Tap Settings Settings.
  3. Tap Autoplay.
  4. Tap Autoplay on Home to toggle the feature on or off
Note: Autoplay on Home may be the default when you're using either Wi-Fi or cellular data. If you'd like to customize your Autoplay on Home experience, open Settings Settings and select your preferred option:
  • Use on Wi-Fi and cellular data
  • Use only when connected to Wi-Fi
  • Disable Autoplay on Home
On Android devices for Premium users, this feature is only available on app version 13.10 and above and OS version 6.0 and above. On Android devices for ad-supported users, this feature is only available on app version 13.30 and above and OS version 6.0 and above.
