Watch YouTube stories

A story is a collection of short videos that you can watch from the top of your Subscriptions feed, from the creator's Stories tab, or from Home. Creators can decide whether the videos in a given story remain visible for 24 hours or indefinitely until they are deleted. Stories are currently in beta release.

Stories can only be viewed on your mobile device using the YouTube app.

Watch YouTube stories

  1. Go to the top row of your Subscriptions feed or go to the Stories tab on the creator's channel.
  2. To watch the creator’s last updated story, tap their avatar in the Subscriptions feed.
    • To view all of the creator’s stories, go to the Stories tab on the creator’s channel, then tap the thumbnail to play the story.
  3. Tap on the left or right side of the player to skip to the previous or next video in the story.
  4. Hold down on the screen to pause.
  5. If the story contains a video thumbnail link, tap the thumbnail to go to the video's watch page.

We are experimenting with showing stories on Home to viewers who might be interested in the channel’s stories . While watching a story from a creator you are not subscribed to, you can hit the Subscribe button within the video to subscribe to the channel. You can also dismiss the story if it is not of interest, by tapping the three-dot menu next to the story and selecting “Not interested.”

While stories are in beta, you can't remove individual stories from your watch history. You can only remove them by deleting your full watch history.
