Artist on the Rise

New artists emerge on YouTube every day. We want to share some of those artists with the world to celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of YouTube. Also, we want to help artists find their fans.

Artist on the Rise

YouTube showcases new music videos from emerging artists for 24 hours on a dedicated Artist on the Rise Shelf on the Music Explore page. During that time, artists will also get a blue ‘Artist on the Rise’ badge that appears next to their channel name.

Emerging artists with over 1,000 subscribers from supported countries are automatically eligible to be featured on Artist on the Rise, there is no application process. Country of eligibility is determined by the channel location, or the location where a channel uploads from most often. YouTube considers various factors to identify emerging talent. View count, watch time growth, and how often videos are uploaded are some factors we look at. YouTube’s systems and teams review selections based on these metrics.

If you’re selected, you might get more visitors than usual to your channel. You may want to review your channel settings—especially how to moderate comments on your videos.

Not seeing Artist on the Rise on the Music Explore page?

Some reasons you might not see Artist on the Rise on the Music Explore page:

  • YouTube highlights emerging artists on the Artist on the Rise shelf a few times a week in supported countries (Canada and the United States). You might be visiting the Music Explore page during a gap in highlighted artists, so check back later.
  • If you're not in a supported country, you won't see any Artists on the Rise. You can change your location setting, but doing so will affect your overall YouTube experience, not just the Music Explore page.
