Multi-channel network (MCN) operations manual

Release channels from your MCN

Remove a channel from your network

Multi-channel networks (MCNs) can release channels from their network using these steps:

  1. Sign into your YouTube content owner account.
  2. In the top right, select the account icon > Creator Studio.
  3. In the left menu, select Channels.
  4. Search for the channel you want to release and select it.
  5. Select Actions > Unlink channel.

Request to leave an MCN network

If you're an affiliate creator and you believe your contract with your MCN allows you to do so, you can request to remove MCN access from your channel.

Data, claims & assets implications

When a channel is released from an MCN, here’s what happens to the assets and claims for that channel’s content:

Partner-uploaded and UGC claims
  • Network’s ownership remains on the assets
  • References are deactivated
  • Partner-uploaded claims are released
  • Existing UGC claims are not released
Partner-uploaded claims (no UGC claims)
  • Network’s ownership is removed from the assets
  • References are deactivated (if partner-uploaded)
  • Partner-uploaded claims are released

Keep in mind that channels that are released from your MCN (and channels that transfer between content owners) will lose historical revenue data from the time they were a part of your network. You can provide them with a report containing this data before releasing them.
