Restrict embedding

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.

By default, Content Manager users can add YouTube videos to their websites and apps by embedding them. You can control where your videos get embedded by specifying which websites and apps to block or allow. These rules can be applied to videos that you own (licensed content) and videos that you claim (user-uploaded content).

Note: Embedding restrictions cannot be applied to iOS apps.

Restrict embedding on websites

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Settings .
  3. In the Overview section, scroll to Block embedding on domains.
  4. Click User-uploaded content and select the rule that you want to apply to websites that embed user-uploaded videos claimed against one of your assets:
    • Allow on all domains (default option): No restrictions on embedding on any website.
    • Allow on certain domains: Block embedding on every website except for the specific websites that you enter in the Domains text box.
    • Block on certain domains: Don't allow users to embed videos on the specific websites that you enter in the Domains text box.
    • Block on all domains: Don't allow any embedding of videos on any website.
  5. Enter the URLs in the Domains text box (one domain URL per line).
  6. Click Licensed content and select the rule that you want to apply to websites that embed videos from your channels.
  7. Enter the URLs in the Domains text box (one domain URL per line).
  8. Click SAVE.

Restrict embedding on apps

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Settings .
  3. In the Overview section, scroll to Block embedding in apps.
  4. Click User-uploaded content  and select the rule that you want to apply to apps that embed user-uploaded videos claimed against one of your assets:
    • Allow in all apps (default option): No restrictions on embedding in any app.
    • Allow in apps based on ID: Block embedding in every app except for the specific apps that you enter in the App IDs text box.
    • Block in apps based on ID: Don't allow users to embed videos in specific apps that you enter in the App IDs text box
    • Block in all apps: Don't allow any embedding of videos in any app.
  5. Enter the URLs in the App IDs text box (one App ID per line).
  6. Click Licensed content  and select the rule that you want to apply to apps that embed videos from your channels.
  7. Enter the URLs in the App IDs text box (one App ID URL per line).
  8. Click SAVE.
