I signed in with a YouTube username

If you created your channel before May 2009, and haven't been signed in since 2011, your channel isn't using a Google Account. These types of accounts are called "legacy YouTube channels."

To access a legacy channel, you need to link it to a Google Account. Here's how:

  1. Go to and sign in to the Google Account you'd like to link with your YouTube channel. If you don't have a Google Account, you can create a new one.
  2. Go to
  3. In the box on the left, enter your YouTube username and password. If you don’t remember your password, unfortunately there is no password recovery option for these accounts.
  4. Select Link these accounts.
  5. Select Claim channel.

After you complete these steps, go to YouTube and use your new Google Account username and password to access your YouTube channel.
