Subscribe to channels

Subscriptions are an important part of your YouTube experience. If there are specific channels that you like, subscribe to them. Once you do, you’ll get a notification when they upload new videos. This makes it simple to keep up with the content that you care about.

How to subscribe

  1. On a computer, sign in to your YouTube account.
  2. Click the Subscribe button .
  1. Open the YouTube app on your mobile device.
  2. Sign in to your YouTube account.
  3.  Tap the account tab .
  4. Click the Subscribe button  .

Find channels to subscribe to

  • Channels that you already like: Try subscribing to channels that you already watch on a regular basis.
  • Get recommendations: You can find recommended channels on your homepage. Recommended channels appear in your feed.
  • Browse by category: If you want to see channels about a particular subject, like music, sports, comedy or games, go to Browse channels to see popular channels across different categories.
  • Do a search: Try searching your interests on YouTube. You can then use a filter on your search results to show channels relevant to what you searched.

What comes with subscription

When you subscribe to a channel, it's added to the navigation menu on the left-hand side of the desktop homepage and video pages. Whenever you visit your homepage, new videos from your subscriptions will appear in the Subscriptions feed. The What to Watch feed also shows videos from your subscriptions, along with recommendations for channels or videos that you may be interested in.

To get to your Subscriptions and What to Watch, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to your YouTube account.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Subscriptions.
  1. On your mobile device, open the YouTube app.
  2. Sign in to your YouTube account.
  3. Tap the Subscriptions tab  .

Subscription limits

If you see an error message that says "Too many subscriptions", you've reached your subscription limit. You can only subscribe to 75 channels per day.

Overall, you can subscribe to a maximum of 2,000 channels. However, your subscription limit grows as your YouTube channel does – it's tied to the number of subscribers that your channel has or how long your account has existed, so your exact limits may change over time.
