About bulk management tools for video campaigns

Note: If you have a top-level manager account with multiple sub-manager accounts with various client accounts, bulk actions owned by the top-level manager will be visible to that account only, and not to any sub-manager or client accounts.

By using the bulk management tools in Google Ads, you can more efficiently create, manage and report on your video campaigns and ads in bulk. Here are a few of the tools that we offer:

  • Bulk uploads: Create and edit hundreds of video campaigns at once instead of one at a time. By downloading a spreadsheet of your campaigns, ad groups or ads, you can then make offline edits, and upload the spreadsheet back into your account.
  • Bulk in-line editing: Use the Edit drop-down menu on the CampaignsAd groups and Ads pages to adjust more than one element in your account at a time. Using bulk editing saves you time by simultaneously updating multiple items in one campaign or across multiple campaigns at once. By clicking the Recent bulk edits menu option, you can see recent edits made to your account in the last 90 days.
  • Automated rules: Automate changes to your account (such as bids, budgets and status) based on the criteria that you specify. For example, you can automate changes across to your video ads’ status and CPV bids, according to conditions you choose.
  • Manager account reporting: In the Reports option under the Reporting icon  in a manager account, you can create, download and manage a range of performance reports across all of your managed accounts. To see how your video campaigns are performing, you can add metrics like views and view rate to these reports. You can also filter by only the 'Video' campaign type to narrow your scope even further.
  • Google Ads Editor: You can create and edit your video campaigns using Google Ads Editor.
  • Google Ads scripts: You can automate actions in your Google Ads account by using JavaScript code. Use scripts to change bids, pause ad groups, manage items in your account and more. Learn more

Bulk uploads

By downloading a spreadsheet containing all the elements of your video campaigns, ad groups, or ads, you can quickly create, edit, add or remove any of those elements in bulk. Once you have uploaded your updated spreadsheet, you can see the changes right in your account. Find out more about making changes with bulk uploads.

Note: The instructions below are part of the new design for the Google Ads user experience. To use the previous design, click the 'Appearance' icon and select Use previous design. Using automated rules can save you time, by cutting down the need to monitor your video campaigns and make frequent, manual changes. Here are some things that you can do with automated rules:

  • Schedule your video ads to appear at specific times of the day.
  • Adjust bids, depending on time of day, season or other changing conditions.

Bear in mind

The system isn't as smart as you are, so set appropriate limits for your rules and review your logs occasionally to be sure that the actions taken by the rules are the result of enough data.

Create automated rules for your video campaigns, ad groups or ads
  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Campaigns icon Campaigns Icon.
  2. Click the Campaigns drop-down in the section menu.
  3. Click CampaignsAd groupsAds, then click the Automate drop-down menu.
  4. On the 'Automate' menu, select one of the rules.
  5. Enter your rule criteria and any requirements for the rule to be triggered.
  6. Select how often you want your rule to run (for example, daily or only once on a particular date and time) from the 'Frequency' menu, along with the date range to evaluate your requirements. Then enter a name for your rule and choose how you'd like to be notified when your rule runs.
  7. Click the Preview results button to verify that you've set it up the way that you want it to run. Previewing is just for verification and doesn't make any permanent changes to your account.
  8. Click Save.
  9. After you've created your rule, it's important to keep an eye on it to make sure that it's working the way that you want it to. To manage your rules, select Manage rules on the 'Automate' menu. There, you'll see a list of your rules; you can pause, enable or remove them (in the 'Status' column) or edit them (in the 'Actions' column).
  10. Each time that a rule runs, an entry will appear in the logs table. Click View details to see specific information about what changed with each rule.
