Troubleshoot sign-in problems on mobile devices, smart TVs and game consoles

Learn how to fix issues with signing in to your YouTube channel on your mobile device, smart TV or game console.

If you can't sign in to YouTube on any device, including your computer, follow the instructions to recover your Google Account.

Before you start: Try restarting your device; this is often a quick way to fix issues.

Troubleshoot for mobile devices

  • Check Google Play to make sure that you've updated your YouTube app to the latest version.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app on your device (even if you have the latest version).
  • Make sure that you're using a Google Account to sign in.
  • Try adding your Google Account to your mobile device using the instructions for Android devices.

Troubleshoot for TVs and game consoles

  • Make sure that you have the latest version of the YouTube app from your smart TV's app store.
  • Make sure that you're using a Google Account to sign in.
  • Reset the YouTube app (in Settings). If you're signed in, this will sign you out.
  • Make sure that your console is supported.
