Find and edit your assets

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.

From the Assets  page in Studio Content Manager, you can find information about assets, export asset info as a spreadsheet, and edit assets individually or in bulk.

Search and filter to find assets

Search for assets

In Studio Content Manager, use the search bar  at the top of the page to find assets by keyword or asset ID.

Filter to find assets

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Assets .
  3. Click the filter bar  and choose filters. Select multiple filters to refine the search.
  4. Click APPLY.

The Assets  page is automatically filtered to your assets. Click the Showing dropdown at the top of the page to switch to viewing assets you don’t own (Not my assets) or All assets. To view assets you don’t own, you must use at least one other filter.

Export asset information

You can export a list of assets as a .CSV spreadsheet or as a Google Sheet. The maximum number of assets you can export at one time is 2 million assets. If you want to see info about all your assets, you can also use the Assets report.

To export a list of assets:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, click Assets .
  3. Check the box next to each asset you want to export.
    • You can click the filter bar to apply a filter.
    • To select all assets on a single page, check the "Select all" box at the top.
    • To select all assets on all pages, check the "Select All" box at the top, then click “Select all matching”. 
      • Note: You can export a maximum of 2 million assets at the time. If you need to get info about all your assets, you can also use the Assets report.
  4. Click Export and then Comma-separated values (.CSV) or Google Sheets (new tab).
    • The file will begin processing. You can navigate away from this page or perform other bulk actions while the file is processing.
  5. When the file is done processing:
    • .CSV files: Click DOWNLOAD from the top banner.
    • Google Sheets: Click OPEN SHEETS IN NEW WINDOW from the top banner.

The file contains details about each of the assets you selected.

 
Tip: Use asset labels to organize your assets so you can find and edit them more easily.

Edit assets

Edit a single asset

To edit one individual asset:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, click Assets .
  3. Click an asset title to open the the asset's details page.
  4. Make your edits.
  5. Click SAVE.
Edit multiple assets

You can update up to 2500 assets in one bulk action, except for editing asset labels where the limit does not apply. To edit multiple assets at once:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, click Assets .
  3. Check the box next to each asset you want to update.
    • To select all assets on a single page, check the box at the top.
    • To select all assets on all pages, check the box at the top and click “Select all matching”.
  4. Click Edit  and choose the type of edit you want to make.
  5. Make your edits.
    • To add other types of edits, click Add edit .
  6. When you're done, click UPDATE ASSETS.
    • For edits other than adding asset labels, you need to confirm the number of assets in a pop-up window.

Note: If you change the match policy of multiple assets at once, you need to confirm which claims should be updated:

  • Update only the claims created using the original match policy: Claims with policy edited manually at a later date won't be updated.
  • Update all claims created against the selected assets: Claims of all selected assets are updated.

Understand the Asset detail page

On the Asset detail page, you can find more information about an asset and make edits to the asset. Specifically, the following pages are available from the left menu:

  • Metadata : Info about an asset, such as its title, ID, type, artist, provider, and date added. Depending on your ownership, you might not have permission to edit certain metadata. Learn more about asset metadata.
  • Issues : List of issues related to the asset that require action, such as ownership conflicts.
  • Ownership & Policy Asset ownership information and the match policy for claimed videos. Use this page to find and message asset owners by clicking the email icon .
  • References : The active references that Content ID uses to claim videos.
  • Analytics : Asset performance and revenue data. Learn more about analytics.
  • Claimed videos : List of videos claimed by the asset. Learn more about claimed videos.
  • Music assets only: Music assets will have other pages for embedding relationships, such as Shares  and Embedded in .
