Manage your YouTube channel’s basic info

You can manage basic info about your YouTube channel such as channel name and description, translations, and links.

Name

You can change your YouTube channel name, just make sure it follows our Community Guidelines. After changing your name, it may take a few days for the new name to update and display across YouTube. If you change your YouTube channel name and picture, it will only be visible on YouTube. You can change your Google Account name and picture here (with no changes made to your YouTube channel name).

Note: You can change your channel name twice within a 14-day period. Changing your name will remove your verification badge. Learn more.

YouTube Android app

  1. Tap your profile picture .
  2. Tap Your channel .
  3. Under your channel description, tap Edit .
  4. Next to your name, tap Edit  and enter your updated channel name, then click SAVE.

YouTube Studio app for Android

  1. Tap your profile picture .
  2. Tap Edit channel profile.
  3. Next to your name or description, tap Edit  and enter your updated channel name, then click SAVE.

Handle

A handle is a unique identifier that makes it easier for you to establish and maintain your distinct presence on YouTube.

Note: You can change your handle twice within a 14-day period.

YouTube Android app

  1. Tap your profile picture .
  2. Tap Your Channel .
  3. Tap Edit Channel .
  4. Under the Handle section, find your handle.
  5. To change your handle, tap Edit to the right.
  6. Type to change the existing handle.
    • If a handle isn’t available, a similar one will be suggested.
  7. Click Save to confirm your handle.

YouTube Studio app for Android

  1. Tap your profile picture .
  2. Tap Edit channel profile.
  3. Next to your handle, tap Edit .
  4. Click Save.

Channel URL

YouTube Android app
Your channel URL is the standard URL that YouTube channels use. It uses your unique channel ID, which is the numbers and letters at the end of the URL. You can view and copy your channel URL within the YouTube and YouTube Studio app. 

Description

You can change your YouTube description, just make sure it follows our Community Guidelines. Your description is accessible in the channel header.

YouTube Android app

  1. Tap your profile picture .
  2. Tap Your channel .
  3. Under your channel description, tap Edit .
  4. Next to your name, tap Edit  and enter your updated description, then click SAVE.

YouTube Studio app for Android

  1. Tap your profile picture .
  2. Tap Edit channel profile.
  3. Next to your name or description, tap Edit  and enter your updated description, then click SAVE.

Add or change your pronouns

You can add your pronouns to your channel so that they are displayed on your channel page. You can choose whether to display your pronouns to everyone or only show them to your subscribers.
Pronouns are a critical part of personal identity and expression. Some jurisdictions have laws related to gender expression. Keep your local laws in mind when using this opt-in public feature on YouTube.
If pronouns are not available on your channel page, we’re working to expand this feature to more countries/regions and languages.
Note: The pronouns feature is not available for workspace or supervised accounts.

YouTube Android app

  1. Tap your profile picture  and then Your channel .
  2. Under your channel description, tap Edit Edit setting, pencil icon.
  3. Next to Pronouns, tap Edit Edit setting, pencil icon and then Add Pronoun .
  4. Begin entering your pronouns and select the ones relevant to you. You can add up to four pronouns.
    1. You can edit your selections by tapping  next to one of your pronouns to remove it.
  5. Select who can view your pronouns: 
    1. Everyone on YouTube, OR 
    2. Only my subscribers 
  6. Tap Save.

Channel profile links

You can showcase up to 14 links on your channel Home tab, just make sure they follow our external links policy. Your first link will be prominently displayed in the profile section above the subscribe button, and your remaining links will show when your audience clicks to see more links. Learn more about sharing links with your audience.  

  1. Open the YouTube Studio app .
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture .
  3. Next to your channel description, tab Edit Edit setting, pencil icon.
  4. Under "Links," tap Edit Edit setting, pencil icon.
  5. Tap  Add and enter the title and URL of your site.
  6. Tap Done and then Save.  

Privacy

YouTube Android app
You can choose to keep all your subscriptions private.
