Site maintenance outages

If you see the following message on YouTube, it means that some of YouTube’s features are temporarily disabled.

"We are currently performing site maintenance. Be cool - we'll be back 100% in a bit."

In order to maintain and improve YouTube, it’s sometimes necessary to turn off some features during maintenance updates. We schedule these periods so they will have the least impact on users. We know that some of you will be impacted by limited functionality, however, and apologize for the inconvenience.

Features you’ll notice are unavailable during maintenance periods include:
  • Commenting
  • Adding to Playlists (including Watch Later and Favorites)
  • Subscriptions
  • Sign-ups
  • Likes and Dislikes
  • User Profile Settings
  • Analytics
  • Uploads (videos will go live after upload is resumed)
  • Syndication
  • Content Management System [Partners Only]

Outages due to planned maintenance typically last only a few hours.

There are also instances when parts of YouTube may be unavailable unexpectedly due to technical issues. In situations like this, our team works to bring YouTube back to normal as soon as possible. You can check our Forums for updates.
