On select academic videos, a learning-focused version of the conversational AI tool is available to help you understand the content of academic video more deeply. This tool allows you to ask questions to strengthen your understanding of key concepts in the video you’re watching, get explanations, and even get quizzed to test your knowledge.

The conversational AI tool is currently available in English to YouTube Premium members in the United States over the age of 18. We are also currently testing this tool with a small number of non-Premium users in the US over the age of 18.
The tool is available on Android, iOS, and web browsers on your computer. The tool will appear on the watch page for select English videos. Please note that availability may change in the future.

When you interact with this tool, we will collect data around your use of the tool and the queries and feedback you submit. This data helps us to provide, improve, and develop our products and services. Conversations connected with your Google Account will be deleted automatically after 45 days.
To help with quality and improve our products, such as the generative machine-learning models that power this tool, human reviewers may read, give notes on, and process your conversations with this tool. We take steps to protect your privacy as part of this process. These steps include disconnecting your conversations from your Google Account before reviewers see them. We also use automated tools to help recognize and remove personal info, like email addresses and phone numbers.
Conversations which are disconnected from your Google Account and have been reviewed by human reviewers aren’t deleted automatically after 45 days. These conversations are kept separately for up to 3 years.
