Request a refund

Refunds may be available for the following YouTube services and memberships. Not all payments on YouTube services and memberships are refundable. See below for details.  
 

Things to know:

  • If you made a purchase using your iPhone or iPad, or signed up for a YouTube paid membership via iTunes, you’ll need to get in touch with Apple support to request a refund. Apple’s refund policy will apply.
  • If you’d like to report an unauthorized purchase on your YouTube account, visit this article for more information and file a claim.

YouTube refund policies

Movie & show purchases or rentals

If you’re experiencing issues playing a movie or TV show that you’ve purchased, check out these troubleshooting steps for help.

If you haven't watched your show or movie, you can request a refund within 7 days of the purchase.

Follow these steps on a computer:

  1. Go to your purchases page.
  2. Click Refund next to the item that you would like refunded.
  3. Click Request refund.
  4. You will receive an email confirmation.

If you are not able to see the option to request a refund directly from this page or if the movie or show you rented or purchased is defective, unavailable, or doesn't perform as stated, you can get in touch with our support team to request a refund.

If a refund request is granted, we'll remove access to the content and your money will be returned within the refund timelines listed below.

If you purchased a TV show or movie via Apple, you'll need to contact Apple Support to request a refund. Apple's own refund policy will apply.

YouTube Premium & YouTube Music Premium memberships

You may cancel a YouTube paid membership at any time. Once you cancel, you will not be charged again, and your benefits will continue until the end of the billing cycle. Note that you won't be refunded for the period of time between when you cancel and when your membership officially ends.

If content or features related to your YouTube paid membership are defective, unavailable, or do not perform as stated, you may contact our support team to request a refund at any time. We do not provide refunds or credits for partially elapsed billing periods. 

If you're a member who signed up via Apple, you’ll need to contact Apple support to request a refund for your membership. Apple’s refund policy will apply.

Super Chat

Super Chat voluntary payments are non-refundable. If you notice an unauthorized Super Chat charge on your account, please contact our support team.

If you purchased a Super Chat on an iOS device, you'll need to contact Apple Support to request a refund. Apple's own refund policy will apply.

Donations 

Donations are non-refundable. If you're having trouble with a payment, you can get in touch with our support team

Channel memberships

You may cancel your paid channel membership at any time. Once you cancel, you won’t be charged again. You’ll be able to use the badge and have access to creator perks until the end of the billing cycle. Note that you won't be refunded for the period of time between when you cancel and when your channel membership officially ends.

If you notice an unauthorized channel memberships charge on your account, follow these steps to report the unauthorized charge. If creator perks or other features of your paid channel membership are defective, unavailable, or do not perform as stated, you may contact our support team to request a refund at any time. We do not provide refunds or credits for partially elapsed billing periods. 

If you're a member who signed up via Apple, you’ll need to contact Apple support to request a refund for your paid channel membership. Apple’s refund policy will apply.
