Take a course on YouTube

Courses on YouTube provide in-depth, structured learning experiences. Multi-session courses allow you to move beyond individual videos and enjoy a more effective learning environment to dive deeper into topics that matter to you.

Ad-supported courses are free to watch and are available to all users. These courses feature ads, unless you are a YouTube Premium subscriber.

Expanded Availability: As of October 15, 2025, we have expanded access to courses. You can now find ad-supported courses from millions of additional creators globally.

Updated Playlists: You may notice that some existing playlists you watch have been automatically updated to the Course format. This happens when a playlist is structured to actively teach a topic, provides extended learning (3+ videos), and is accessible to all ages.

Course features

When you watch a Course on YouTube, you get access to specialized learning features:

  • Badges: A special "Course" badge appears on the Watch and Playlist pages to help you identify structured learning content.
  • Progress Tracking: An information panel shows your progress. When you finish all videos in a Course, you will receive a completion badge in your Library.
  • Quizzes: Creators can add quizzes to help you test your knowledge on specific videos.
  • Dedicated Tab: You can find courses on a dedicated tab on a creator's channel page.
  • Course Comments: Engage with other learners in a discussion section specific to the course topic.
