License tracks

Creator Music is now available to U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). Expansion to YPP creators outside of the U.S. is pending.

With Creator Music, some songs can be licensed, which means creators use music in their video at no cost and keep the video’s full revenue share.

Find music to license

To find tracks you can license:

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
2. From the left menu, select Creator Music .
3. On the Discover or Music pages, go to the search bar and enter search terms, such as song title or artist name.
4. Use the Usage terms filter and select No-cost music.

Get a license

Once you find a licensable track, you can download the track to use in your video. When you upload the video with the track, the license for the track will be auto-applied.

To license tracks in Creator Music:

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
2. From the left menu, select Creator Music .
3. Find a track you want to license.
4. Click "More actions" No-cost licenses: Download track.

Remove a license

If a video’s privacy settings are set to Private or Unlisted, or if a video is a Draft, any licenses that were added to that video can be removed and added to other videos. This can’t be done once a video is set to Public.

To remove a license:

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
2. From the left menu, select Content .
3. Find the video that has the license you want to remove.
4. In the Notices column, hover over License added.
5. Click Review.
6. Click Take Action Remove License.
7. Click Remove License.
8. Click Continue.

Once a license is removed, the licensable track used in the video is no longer protected from copyright claims. You may want to learn how to remove claimed content from videos.
