Find and preview tracks

Creator Music is now available to US creators in the YouTube Partner Programme (YPP). Expansion to YPP creators outside of the US is pending.

In Creator Music, you can search for a specific track or artist, browse tracks in categories like genre and mood, or find tracks based on their eligibility for licensing and revenue sharing.

As you explore, you can preview songs and get information about how they can be used, to help you find the right music for your videos.

Find tracks

There are a few ways in which you can find tracks in Creator Music:

Explore featured tracks

To view featured tracks grouped by mood, genre and other criteria:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
  2. From the left menu, select Creator Music .
  3. On the Home page, browse tracks in any of the following sections:
    • Featured revenue sharing tracks: Tracks that allow you to monetise your video by sharing revenue with the track's rights holders.
    • Featured collections: Popular tracks on Creator Music.
    • Featured licensable tracks: Tracks that you can license to retain full monetisation of your video.
    • Moods: Tracks with a similar mood, such as happy, sad and dramatic.
    • Genres: Tracks grouped by genres, such as ambient, blues and classical.
Search for a specific song or artist

To search for a specific song or artist:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
  2. From the left menu, select Creator Music .
  3. On the Home or Browse pages, go to the search bar  and enter search terms, such as song title or artist name.
Find tracks that you can license
To find tracks that you can license:
  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
  2. From the left-hand menu, select Creator Music .
  3. On the Home or Browse pages, go to the search bar and enter search terms, such as song title or artist name.
  4. Tick the Licence available box at the top of your search results.
Bear in mind:
  • On the Home page, you can find licensable tracks in Featured licensable tracks.
  • Licensable tracks are listed with a price next to them.
  • If you don't want to buy a licence, licensable tracks may also be eligible to share revenue if your video meets the revenue sharing usage requirements.
Find tracks that can share revenue

To find tracks that are eligible for revenue sharing:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
  2. From the left menu, select Creator Music .
  3. Look for the Share revenue icon  wherever tracks are listed. 

Bear in mind:

  • On the Home page, you can find revenue sharing tracks in Featured revenue sharing tracks.
  • Revenue sharing tracks can't be downloaded from Creator Music.
  • Licensable tracks may also be eligible to share revenue if your video meets the revenue sharing usage requirements.
Filter and sort to find tracks

Filter track lists

To filter a list of tracks:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio in a web browser.
  2. From the left menu, select Creator Music .
  3. Click Browse.
  4. Click any category:
    • Mood
    • Genre
    • Vocals
    • BPM (beats per minute)
    • Duration
    • Price
  5. Select filters and then APPLY.

You can select more than one filter across multiple categories.

Sort track lists

To sort a list of tracks:

  1. On the Browse page, click Best match .
  2. Select Best match, Newest or Price (lowest) to sort your search results by any of these criteria.

Preview tracks

When you find music that you're interested in, there are a few ways to preview a track and get information about it before you use it:

Play a song

  • Listen on Creator Music: In any track list, hover over the album artwork and click 'Play' .
  • Listen in YouTube: In any track list, click 'More actions' ''. and then Open on YouTube to play the song on YouTube.

Check track usage info

Usage icons

To quickly see track usage info, look for these icons in Creator Music:

Eligible for revenue sharing. Using the track in your video means that your video can share revenue with the track's rights holders. Learn more about revenue sharing.
Ineligible for monetisation. Using the track in your video means that your video can't be monetised but will remain visible on YouTube.
 Video will be blocked. Using the track in your video means that your video won't be visible on YouTube.
Note: Licensable tracks are listed with a price, such as £0.00 or £9.99. Learn more about licensing.

Usage details

For tracks that are licensable or eligible for revenue sharing, you can find more information about how tracks can be used in the track's usage details:

  1. Find a track that's licensable or eligible for revenue sharing.
  2. For licensable tracks, click the price. For revenue sharing tracks, click the 'View revenue sharing details'  icon.
    • You can also click 'More actions' ''. and then View usage details where any track is listed.

Download a licensable track

Licensable tracks can be downloaded so you can make sure that they work in your videos before buying a licence. Tracks marked as eligible for revenue sharing  can't be downloaded.

To download a licensable track:

  1. Find a licensable track that you want to download.
  2. Click 'More actions' ''. and then Download track in any track list or from the player bar.
  3. (Optional) Click VIEW USAGE DETAILS to see the licence's usage details.

The track can now be used in your video, per the terms outlined in the licence's usage details.
