Verify your phone number as an India-based channel

What does “phone verified” mean?

If you see “phone verified” listed on the “About” tab of a channel page, it means the channel owner has voluntarily completed phone verification. Phone verification will only verify that a user owns their phone number. This label is visible to all users within India using YouTube on a computer, mobile device, or on the YouTube app.

Why do we have this label?

We added this label to comply with the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (“IT Rules”).

How can I be “phone verified”?

To voluntarily get phone verified as an India-based channel, you’ll need to confirm your identity via a phone number:

  1. On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. Click Settings .
  3. Click Channel.
  4. Click Feature eligibility and then Intermediate features and then VERIFY PHONE NUMBER

You’ll be asked to enter a phone number. We’ll send a verification code by text or voice call to that phone number.
