Manage playlists in YouTube Studio

Learn how to create, edit, manage, and filter your playlists in YouTube Studio to engage with your audience.

Note: This feature may not be available with supervised experiences on YouTube. Learn more.

To manage your playlists

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, click Content  Playlists.

Tip: You can also manage your playlists with the YouTube Studio app on your mobile device.

 

Create a playlist

 

To create a new playlist,

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. In the top-right corner, click CREATE   New playlist.
3. Enter a playlist title.
4. Use the drop-down box to select your playlist's visibility setting.
5. Click CREATE.

Playlist title tips:

• Playlist titles have a character limit of 150 characters
• Playlist titles cannot include invalid characters ("<", ">", and the line separator "\u2028")

Playlist description tips:

• Playlist descriptions have a limit of 5,000 characters
• Playlist descriptions cannot include invalid characters ("<", ">", and the line separator "\u2028")

Edit a playlist title or description

To update your playlist’s details,

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Content.
3. Click the Playlists tab.
4. Click Edit  next to your playlist title or description, and update details as needed.
5. Click SAVE.

Tip:

• Playlist titles have a character limit of 150 characters

Manage a playlist

 

To manage your playlist,

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Content.
3.  Click the Playlists tab.
4. Click the menu  next to the playlist you’d like to update.
5. Select Edit on YouTube . Your playlist will open in a new tab.
   • To sort videos in a playlist, drag and drop the video up and down to reorder .
   • To share a playlist, go to your playlist details and select Share . Then, choose where you’d like to share the playlist.
   • To add collaborators, go to your playlist details and click the More  Collaborate .
   • To add videos to a playlist, go to your video details and select More   Add videos. You can add a video from search, URL, or your library.

Note: You can also change your privacy setting.

Filter a playlist

 

To find a playlist easily, use a filter to narrow down your search:

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Content.
3. Click the Playlists tab.
4. Use the filter bar  and enter keywords to find and filter your playlists by title.

Turn a playlist into a podcast

To turn an existing playlist into a podcast,

1. Within YouTube Studio, go to Content   Playlists.
2. Hover over the playlist you want to designate as a podcast.
3. Click Menu   Set as podcast.
4. Review your podcast’s details and add a square podcast thumbnail. Podcast details include title, description, and who can view your podcast on YouTube.
5. Click Done to confirm your changes.

Remove podcasting features from a playlist

To remove podcasting features from your playlist,

 

1. Within YouTube Studio, go to Content Podcasts.
2. Hover over the playlist you want to unset as a podcast.
3. Click on the Menu next to the podcast you want to remove features from.
4. Select Set as playlist.
5. Click Yes to confirm.
