Understand your Premium membership billing

Have a question about your YouTube Premium or YouTube Premium Music membership? Read below for details on how to check your membership details, such as payment method, billing date, and transaction receipts.

Check your membership type and status

View your membership type

To view what type of membership you’re currently subscribed to (trial, individual, family, student):

  1. Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
  2. Your YouTube memberships and subscriptions will be listed under the “Memberships” section.
  3. Underneath the name of each membership, your membership type and price will be listed.

If you signed up for a Premium membership through Apple, you’ll see “Billed by Apple” under your membership details. You’ll need to manage your membership through Apple.

Check your membership status

To confirm the status of your membership (active or paused):

  1. Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
  2. Click Manage membership.
  3. You’ll see the date of your next billing cycle if you’re subscribed to a monthly membership, the date on which your trial ends (if you’re currently in a trial period), or the option to unpause your membership (if it’s paused).

Check your billing details

View or change your active payment method

  1. Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
  2. Click the arrow next to Manage membership to expand your membership details.
  3. You’ll see your active payment method listed and any backup payment methods you’ve added.
  4. You can click Edit next to “Backup payment method” to add another form of payment. A backup payment method ensures your membership and benefits will continue even if your first payment method cannot be charged for some reason.

See your next billing date and amount

  1. Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
  2. Click the arrow next to Manage membership to expand your membership details.
  3. You’ll see your “Next billing date” listed, and the price of your membership.

To cancel or pause your membership, follow the steps here. When you cancel your membership, you won't be charged again unless you re-subscribe. Your YouTube paid membership benefits will continue until the end of the billing period.

View your receipts

To view the receipts for your YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium membership, visit payments.google.com and then Activity.

You’ll see a list of all your transactions, including your YouTube membership charges. Click any transaction to view the details about that charge, including:

  • The total amount billed
  • The date and time of the charge
  • The status of the transaction
  • Which payment method was charged

If there’s a charge that you don’t recognize or seems higher than it should be, check this list of common reasons for unexpected charges. If you believe the charge was made by someone else, you can report an unauthorized charge.

If you live in the European Economic Area, you'll be charged Value-Added Tax (VAT) on some purchases from Google. For these purchases, you can request a VAT invoice.

Depending on what Google service you use to make a purchase, the currency you're billed in may not be the currency of your home country. Learn more about currency conversions.

Recurring charges in India

Due to the Reserve Bank of India eMandate requirements, you have to verify or re-enter your payment details to maintain access to your recurring memberships. To do so, follow the instructions in the YouTube app or on youtube.com. Note that your bank may not support recurring payments at this time. Check the list of banks supporting recurring payments or learn more.
If you receive YouTube Premium through a subscription to Pixel Pass, learn more about how to manage your account here.
